Another voice wouldn't make this track any better.
Chicane, Oceanlab, Armin van Buuren, They all were great.
By the way, Trance means perfection, so Live singing does't work very well for Trance, it's just commercial business.
A beautiful voice makes the tracks more complete and commercial, but the tracks should already be kickin' without vocals.
TRANCE IS THE WORD |
If trance equates to perfection then apparently our standards for perfection these days are really low. |

True, but many and most tracks aren't "Trance" and aren't good. House or Techno, how they should be called changed to Trance in the last years.
Trance is a development of the Synthesizer music made by Vangelis, Jean Michele Jarre, Jan Hamer etc. "Axel F" is one of the most famous Synthesizer tracks ever.
When House (remember the Dutch "Turn Up The Bass" series with the smilies) started the beats were combined with Synthesizer melodies and Trance was born. I think all this started between 1980-1985.
Sometimes it is difficult to draw the line, especially since vocals are used, so a good trance track should be good even without the vocals.
Why perfection? Trance is made with computers and synthesizers. Timing is perfect and exactly like programmed. Small mistakes can be adjusted. Next to that it is difficult to combine so many different sounds and melodies running through eachother and make it sound great.
It takes a lot of time to make a trance track which not only sounds good but also original. That's why Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk are the best, not only in making their own tracks, but also making others better by remixing them.
Perfecion in choice of instruments, melody and rhythm make the diffence between a good track and a amazing kickin' track which you want play again and again and again....
The early work of Chicane - Offshore and BT - Flaming June became Trance after tracks were remixed by Disco Citizen and Paul van Dyk. The original versions of these track are Sythesizer tracks and the remixes were the tracks which make these tracks famous.
So that is why to my opinion Trance should be equal to Perfection. |

Perfection in music is totally and utterly opinion. You can't make a "perfect" piece of music. Someone will think it's . It's just how life goes. And no amount of cables connected to Reason and Ableton and synthesizers and what not will change the fact that the song you pour over for for forever and five days will sound like ass-grating clap trap to some redneck from Virginia. |

So in order to produce a really, really good Trance track you need to:
-Choose instruments that can bring you into a Trance
-Combine them and make sure they sound perfect together
-Make a melody that will do the thing
If one of these isn't perfect you won't get into Trance.
"The act or process of perfection"
It took Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren years to get were they are now. They developed their skills into Perfection, able to make a perfect Trance tracks. (Where is Tiesto? Tiesto is not as Trancie as those 3) |

you're crossing the boundary from just being ignorant to the fact that there is no "perfect" music into classifying stupidity with minimal, distorted, and obtusely wrong "facts". |

O.K., to me, (and many critical Trance fans) "Perfect" are the tracks you still like after 10 years (e.g.: Jam & Spoon - Follow Me, BBE - 7days&1week, Chicane - Offshore, Three 'N One - Reflect).
It's the composers excellent choice which made these tracks so good.
People who analyse a track and ask themselves: Why do I like this track so much and another one less, will come to certain conclusions. One will be:"To me this track sound perfect, there is nothing I would like to change". But most people only listen to it and don't ask questions.
Why was Tiesto worlds best DJ for the past years? Just because a huge crowd liked the music he played. But critical Trance-fans who do analyse tracks probably think Tiesto was not the best DJ.
In this topic the vocals of some singers are analysed. If a singer sings clear, it doesn't mean that you have to like her voice. But combined with the tracks it could sound perfect. Otherwise critical Trance fans wouldn't put them on there best tracks list.
To me, this singers never should sing live, it is not perfect, it is never how the composer would have wanted it, otherwise they could record it in a live setting instead of a studio.
Maybe I analyse to much and should this be in another topic, but to my opinion the people Justine Suissa worked with make lots of perfect tracks and Justine is a good choise to provide the vocals. |
