It's the composers excellent choice which made these tracks so good.
People who analyse a track and ask themselves: Why do I like this track so much and another one less, will come to certain conclusions. One will be:"To me this track sound perfect, there is nothing I would like to change". But most people only listen to it and don't ask questions.
Why was Tiesto worlds best DJ for the past years? Just because a huge crowd liked the music he played. But critical Trance-fans who do analyse tracks probably think Tiesto was not the best DJ.

In this topic the vocals of some singers are analysed. If a singer sings clear, it doesn't mean that you have to like her voice. But combined with the tracks it could sound perfect. Otherwise critical Trance fans wouldn't put them on there best tracks list.
To me, this singers never should sing live, it is not perfect, it is never how the composer would have wanted it, otherwise they could record it in a live setting instead of a studio.

Maybe I analyse to much and should this be in another topic, but to my opinion the people Justine Suissa worked with make lots of perfect tracks and Justine is a good choise to provide the vocals.

You might think that Justine Suissa sang beautifully in Clear Blue Water and think that Oceanlab was a quartet contrived for the sheer purpose of making perfection in music but I can still safely state that all three (or is that four?) of their tracks are completely gash. Just beyond terrible. Except for Satellite, it was okay for about a day or so and every now and then warrants a listen. Hardly anything innovative or perfect. Hardly trail-blazing.

Commercial trance-pop.

Besides, how do you measure perfection? Is there a perfect-o-meter? Or is there someone who actually decides how perfect something is? Did he or she need a degree in judging perfection?

Let me start off by saying that the EDM releases/remixes that have been done with Justine Suissa, Jes Breiden or Jan Johnston are all pretty much overrated, especially when I see someone post omg this tune is a 10. I haven't really heard anything with real good lyrics or amazing vocals from any of these women. I'm going to post 2 remixes for now which I would personally give a score of 10.0 out of 10.0 IMO.

Evanesence - hello (Trifactor vs Gabriel & Dresden remix)
Sarah McLachlan - sweet surrender (Tiesto remix)

Those 2 ladies above have better vocals and lyrics in every sense of the word. I can't even start to explain how much better the two tunes I mentioned above are than any release that featured Justine,Jes or Jan. Ive seen so many threads done on topics like best trance vocals..blah..blah..blah..with mentions of Justine or the other 2 so called vocalists above. Thats why when I listen to songs with female vocals 95% of the time I prefer other genres because of all the EDM tracks w/vocals being released most of the time. As I'm posting this I'm listening to another classic IMO

Sade - no ordinary love <<
^^I think there was a EDM remix of some sort done of that song, but I can't remember who did it or when it was released. Anyway, the bottom line, I seriously think that producers should stop releasing so much garbage with female vocalists who are in reality not nearly as good as you or the producer might think they are and start focusing on producing more quality EDM featuring the vocals of some of the talented singers out there. I'm sorry if your a big fan of any of the three "average" vocalists on the thread topic, You might hate me for what I'm saying about them, but Im sticking to my statement.

Like I mentioned before, Trance music is not about vocals and lyrics.
If you leave the vocals behind you still should have a good trance track. You are playing judge by telling it is commercial trance-pop. Probably it was intended to be commercial.
The vocals make some tracks more complete, maybe more commercial. Adding some vocals can make that one track a bit better (Dogzilla - Without You). Singers like Justine are asked to sing and you cannot compare them with "real" singers like Sarah McLachlan.
It is obvious that if a DJ remixes a song of a singer like Sarah McLachlan both the vocals as the lyrics are of a totally different level.

I also liked "Burned with Desire - Armin van Buuren".
Probably he thinks he make a very good track and many fans with the same taste agree.

Since this is a Trance forum many could call it perfect. Probably you could keep having discussion about these things for a long time. But if you e.g. only like goa-trance, which is also Trance, you would call everything else rubbish. So if a track sounds commercial to you, this doesn't mean it is no Trance and it doesn't has to be bad.
There are lot of ways of measuring perfection, or lets call it how good something is. There is a technical, scientific way, there are charts, the number of sold tracks etc. etc.
Easiest way is if you give a song a 10, I would say you think it is perfect. If 999 of 1000 Trance fans give a 10 I would call that track perfect. Or is a 10 very, very good and but not close to perfect....

You just said it yourself, "singers like Justine are asked to sing and cannot compare them to 'real' singers like Sarah McLachlan. This is one of my points Im trying to get through, A lot of these producers use these 3 and a few others so many times and what comes out is a release with vocals and lyrics ranging from to moderate at best. Most trance fans that actually eat up this and like it are sheeps, how else does armin and tiesto always end up in the top 5 Dj mag poll every year even though they have pretty much sucked as Djs and producers the past few years. Trance-MB, you can like whatever you like, I just think that way 2 many EDM fans purchase and support garbabe producers that release tracks that are trash. it, Not like anything is going to change for the better..Thats why trance has really been going down the drain for the past few years.

Of those I think Jan Johnston is most overrated.

No one can touch Sarah McLachlan tho:gsmile:

I have yet to see anything "technical" (and by that I mean machinery, and I hope you do as well) that can measure a track's perfection.

Charts, hah, I laugh at that being one of the "ways to determine perfection" since I don't believe Tiesto was a perfect dj from 2002-2004 nor do I believe any track that reaches the top spot in any genre is perfect.

These ratings of "omg ch00n 10/10" does not mean it is really perfect. It is perfect to the person who posted that.

Once again, we go around and find out that yes, it's merely opinion. And whatever else you're saying I really cannot find bearing or relevance.
