There is also much more technology and a higher standard of living in Japan. Japan pioneered most synthesizer and drum machine developments between the late 70's and early 90's. There are many possible reasons for there being more EDM producers in Japan than China, only one being that there is less oppression. Nevertheless, I don't see what all this has to do with the topic. Unless you're trying to say that "white" people wouldn't dominate trance if China and India and similar countries were less oppressed. As if all of the sudden millions of people would take up synthesizers as they had always dreamed of during their lives working in the rice fields fantasizing about Tiesto, and start making really kickass trance. It's more of a standard of living and poverty issue than an oppression issue. Possibly.
Oh well. I'm outsky. I just realized why I stopped doing this. Because it sucks. |

I kno people catorigise rap as edm, but its so completely different that its kinda pointless puttin it under edm just cause they uses samples and loops and have a very basic basic electronic music pattern.
electronic dance music, i dont consider rap dance music, eventhough its obvious u can dance to it. And yea its electronic to a point, but compared to house, trance, techno, its no where near the same and i dont think should be put in the same catagory |

it is considered EDM because it is made using electronic equipment
(drum machines, sequencers.. etc...)
there is absolutely no real instruments used

Dead wrong. It totally depends on the hip hop artist. Dr. dre uses real instruments all the time. Almost all of his basslines from Chronic 2001 were performed and recorded from a real bassist. Kanye west records real string musicians on almost all of his beats. Outkast record real brass musicians. The Roots are almost entirely instrumental, even the drums are recorded.
Hip Hop has a lot of electronic elements... but the majority of people who actually listen to it would not refer to it as EDM. |
