NINTENDO for life.

Sony and Microsoft may have the graphics but Nintendo focuses purely on the gameplay and the "fun" in the game. True Innovators since day one!

IMHO and rightly so. :p

Cant' wait for the "Revolution" to hit the stores late next year....specially when its backward compatible with the entire 20 yrs of insane Nintendo catalogue ---->> Legends!!!

Dreamcast woah! That was supposed to be Sega's comeback. I wonder what happened with that??? I remember my favorite game on N64 was Mario Kart. I love all the secret paths while racing.

dreamcast was a great system. i had it and it was amazing, but it was released at the wrong time and was quickly overwhelmd with the release of the PS i believe, as well as a rediculase price at release with only a few available games. plus it was hard to program games so they had a hard time signing developers to their console....

The main thing that brought them down was the PS2, and Sega's lack of profits for countless years. It was actually a pretty developer-friendly system, and the Dreamcast had an impressive list of games (Soul Calibur, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, for instance). Developers wanted to develop for it, until the PS2 came out and broke so many sales records. After that, and the power the PS2 offered to dev's...there was really no point in developing for the system.

Oh, and piracy was a big issue. It was VERY easy to get pirated games for the DC. It was easily one of the best systems I've owned though.

I think the best system ever released was the Dreamcast just due to the fact you could do so much with it.

People that say Playstation 3 graphics are better than PC might be right but thats because Sony got exclusive rights on the graphics card at the time but now Nvidia has already released the video card for PC under the name of 7800.

The newer cards are able to simulate HDR (High Dynamic Range) lighting very easily and this give the impression of realism.

The Playstation 3 will come out, then a newer graphics card than the 7800 will come out for PC then you have better graphics on PC.

So did anyone here get a 360?

Won't even come close?? When you make statements like that you better be sure you know what you're saying, cause the PS3 is more powerful than the PC you described. The only thing it doesn't have more of is RAM, which isn't as essential on a console as on a PC. Other than that though, the video card in the PS3 blows the Geforce 6800 Ultra away (try comparing the 7800Ultra to it if you want something similar). And the CPU is a [7] multi-core cpu clocked at 3.2ghz. Also, keep in mind that comparing JUST specs isn't accurate. A console's hardware is made specifically for gaming, so even a weaker-based system compared to a PC could produce similar results if the right developer does it.

Anyways, I'm not saying those games don't look beautiful on a system like you described, cause I know they do. I know full well that Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is supposed to be an example of how graphics will look on next-generation video cards, but what you forget is that the RSX chip in the PS3 is based on next-generation video cards. Those software effects that you see in Lost Coast will come standard on all next-gen video cards, including the PS3. And I know full well that within a year of PS3's release, PC's will start to pull ahead again. It's only natural.

The consoles' main advantage (at the moment anyway) is the massive bandwidth they have between all processing components (CPU, GPU, RAM).

However, NVIDIA themself have stated that, by midyear next year, the PC will have more powerful graphics than console.

i heard microsoft, damn them, did not make a lot of xbox 360's .. they want to increase the want for it, therefore making them go insane. and you know insanity means them paying more for it .. hahhaha ..

but i think that after this week, microsoft would probably ship about another 50 to 60k out in the world, then put the production on hold to see the demand on the street ..

just my opinion ..

Also, IF ANYONE is considering buying an HDTV, then wait another year or 2. Trust me on this. Majority of HDTV's haven't reached true HDTV resolution yet (1080p)...so you're better off waiting until TV's that support that resolution are available at a reasonable price.

To be honest, I'm expecting those TV's to be easily available by this time next year.

sorry to bust your balls, but 720p is HDTV, 1080p is another version of HDTV with better resolution and maybe some japanese company will come up with 1800p or some crazy resolution in the coming years.

The problem is that HDTV is a generic PR term used everywhere to designated something that is better than old tvs. Like the dreaded "multimedia pc" word used everywhere to designate a pc with a soundcard, a pair of speakers and a cdrom drive :p

Matter of fact is that I believe that we won't see any channels turning 1080p anytime soon... maybe some HD-DVDs films, but thats it.

So waiting for 1080p is futile imo.

oh, btw, my 55" Sony 720p rocks :D

Hot damn. It came out today and there had been a line since (at least) 630 in the morning... if not earlier (we don't know because clearly no one is going to monitor that). Our store didn't even OPEN until 9 am! Not only that, but in order to buy the 360 you had to buy 3 games with it... that's 700$ or MORE in one shot! We were sold out before the doors even opened. Insanity. :wtf:

How many 360's did your store have in stock? Because Microsoft wanted to create hype my store was only allotted 16, and another one was only allotted 10; we wont be getting anymore in until December.

shutup! I was just trying to convince myself that my 27" 480p/1080i, 3:2 aspect ratio was worth buying a year and a half ago. I kinda wish I waited a LITTLE longer to get a 26" widescreen or 30" even.
