...Tho, not as funny as washed-up DJ freak in the booth, thinking he's still "the ". Ha! OMG, I can't wait for Tiesto "wash-out" story: "Tijis Verwest, also known as Tiesto was found dead from drug overdose. The details remain sketchy but what is known so far is that he apparently died from heroin enema." :stongue: |

Sounds like Tiesto got mad that someone was stealing his spotlight, even if only for a minute...
Now if it's a half-naked woman dancing in front of his booth (as it happens ALL THE TIME) he has NO problem with that.... whatev. |

had a blast i must say, the crowd was hella cool.. ran into a bunch of people i thought i wouldnt get a long with online (meatheads/guidos) lol but they offered me some cigs n gum and were really nice so that took me by surprise.. got there around 10:30 waited inline until i met up with shannon who sold us tickets haha .. didnt see any TA's except for her, but it was all good.. partied with some really cool people we ended up meeting throughout the night all in all a great vibe and great people.. danced pretty hard all night my feet are killing me! :D it wasnt nearly as packed or hot for that matter so that was awesome. Tiesto threw down a nice set a lot of bangers which i like, kept me dancing for hours.
but yeah i could have done without dennis rodman what a tool  he walked right infront of me while i was dancing with like 2 bouncers on either end i just stopped dancing n tried to give him a dirty look (yeah i was drunk what can i say) :p

Tiesto shouldnt get mad though. he (intentionally or not) pioneered the whole dj celebrity thing. oakey started it but he didnt exploit it to tiestos degree (TIC anyone?). |
Really, it was John Digweed and Sasha who pioneered the DJ celebrity thing, except they did it without trying by just being plain better than everyone else. I've never seen either one of them by themself or both of them together when I haven't been absolutely floored by their performance (Digweed especially). Tiesto/Oakenfold did it through shameless self-promotion and exploiting a scene primarily composed of teenagers on drugs, although for a while Oakenfold was at least actually good. Then he started exploiting it, and he started to suck. Maybe it's because my natural preference is for a less hard-trancey sound (and S&D's sound is perfect for my tastes), but I've never been wowed by a trance DJ (unless you count Nick Warren) in any way, and I've left many gigs early in utter disappointment. I just get bored of identical-sounding tracks, "emotional" buildups that all happen exactly the same (cue drum roll and horn entrance please), and people staring at the DJ instead of dancing.
For example, how many Sasha & Digweed "classics" are their own productions? Precisely 2, which are Xpander and Heaven Scent, and both of them are classics for everyone else because they're just plain great. Now look at Tiesticles, who's "classics" are all stuff that he wrote himself and that became popular mostly because he hammered them into oblivion rather than standing on their own merit.
I'm not trying to slag people who like Tiesto, to each his own tastes I suppose, but he really doesn't have much talent. Anyone who's ever been a bedroom DJ knows that it takes no skill to mix just as well as Tiesto. And his track selection is nothing special, he just plays the popular trance of the day in an uninspiring fashion, so don't give me crap about setbuilding or musicality or anything, because he sucks at that too. I honestly can't understand how you could enjoy Tiesto's flavor of music without being blasted out of your mind on exstasy or some similar drug, and even then that's pushing it. |
