Tiesto was hardly the first to mix Adagio for Strings. William Orbit and Ferry Corsten were playing their own versions of it, which are better, in 1999. |

I can safely say that they weren't better, but that would be a statement of opinion, so I won't get into that. And as far as Adagio's go, the song 'Athena' is also the remix of an Adagio, and it's much better than the actual 'Adagio for Strings'. I'm not sure if that's a Tiesto original, though.

athena is a remake of Tomaso Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor, ably converted into a dance tune by Rollerball, a year before tiesto's attempt. |

From discogs - "Athena" is an intrepetation of Albonini's "Adagio is G Minor".
Personally, I don't care if people like Tiesto. I've seen him twice and was severely disappointed both times (Central Park and Ultra Miami 2005). We left the main stage at Ultra midway through his set to find better music at the tents because it was so poor. I actually don't mind a good number of his productions, but his mixing is subpar for a DJ of his "level." That combined with his frequent inability to build a set with any flow doesn't impress me enough to pay $40-50 and wait in line for hours to see him. Like I said, though, I'm glad you guys enjoyed. I wasn't ripping on him, I was just pointing out the error in your statement regarding Adagio for Strings. |

Right, thanks. Still no ID on that last song in Devant's set?
About Tiesto, I know what you mean regarding dissapointing sets. I still think he's a great DJ, but as I said, I was really upset by his lack of faithfullness to the crowd. When you leave the record spinning and you walk away, that's not the spirit of EDM.
