200 Lieberal scandals:

I'm not saying this is my belief but it would seem to be the belief of the majority at present. I'm not the person you need to convince.

Our Priorities
After 12 years of scandal and inaction, it’s time for a change. Stephen Harper and the Conservative team have a plan to tackle the real issues that matter to Canadians:

• Conservatives will help individuals, families and entrepreneurs get ahead by lowering taxes, rewarding hard work and making it easier to save.

• Conservatives will help our seniors preserve their hard won gains through fairer taxes, better service from bureaucrats and by opposing ‘death taxes’.

• Conservatives will improve the quality of life in communities by improving access to health care, offering choice in child care and tackling violent crime.

• Conservatives will fight waste, mismanagement and corruption in Ottawa by enacting and enforcing tough anti-corruption and accountability measures.

• Conservatives will stand up for Canada by defending our national interests in trade disputes, securing our borders and treating all provinces with respect.

Stand up for change. Stand up for your Canada. Join Stephen Harper and support Canada’s Conservative team.

So these are the main issues that the Conservatives stand for right from their website.

So for me personally

1. Could care less - I don't mind paying taxes at the levels they are at now. You can bet the liberals will say the same thing or at least not raise taxes.

2. Not a senior so don't care.

3. Great...they will work on Health Care.....well what are they gonna do...it the privatize it then I am all for it. Child Care - don't care...don't have kids and not planning on having any. Tackling violent crime.....great so will everyone else....not a big issue at all.

4. Sure they will.....I would like a better breakdown of what they will do and a guarantee that it there is any corruption or scanals in his government that he will resign.

5. Yeah....just like everyone else

our economy

cities and communities
Canada’s cities and communities are where we truly experience what it means to be Canadian. Paul Martin and the Liberal government understand this and have committed a great deal to improving where we live and raise our children. We also know that cities propel economic growth, employment and innovation. They are at the center of our country’s success.

our families
Giving families a helping hand, at all stages of life, is an important part of creating a society of which we can all be proud. Paul Martin and the Liberal government strive to treat every Canadian family with dignity and respect. From our children to our seniors, we are committed to promoting initiatives that reflect everyone’s needs.

And this is from the liberal website regarding their main issues...don't have time to comment now but will comment later.

with all the scandals and wasted money the liberals still turned a budget surplus...

Do you even realize what the current cost of government is, taking into account all types of taxes and unnecessary regulations?

More than 80% of this country's money somehow ends up in the hands of government... and there have been over 100 documented instances of that money being mismanaged.

If the government is going to mismanage my money (which you seem to believe will happen with any government), I'd much rather it be *less* of my money!

Lower taxes benefit everyone - if you think they don't benefit you or anyone else, you'd better brush up on those economics.

Do you know what a surplus means? It means they took in too many taxes. It means they overcharged us and can now bribe us with our own money. Are you really gullible enough to be bribed with your own money?

As for the child care choice. That does concern you because the liberals was universal day care much like the universal health care we have today. And guess who gets to pay for it? YOU DO!!! The conservatives believe in choice for day care and wont force a universal daycare system on us.

Actually the country just went through three years of national deficits.

http://www40.statcan.ca/l01/cst01/govt01b.htm

The federal surplus is due to the fiscal imbalance (esp. downloading onto provinces) and taxes that are way too high (plus a lack of spending in important federal programs).

I don't disagree that lower taxes will be a benefit...All I am saying is the current level of taxation (from a federal point) does not bother me....sure I would like lower taxes...hell I would like to pay absolutely no taxes....but taxes are not what is going to make me decide who to vote for. If that is all you care about is taxes then you can vote for any party because they are all going to promise tax cuts.

Actually the tax cuts arent the bribe. The bribe is all the spending theyve announced since they were sure we were about to have an election.

And of course pretty much nothing will happen if they get back into power just like every other time. But voters in Ontario have a wierd amnesia it seems.

They all promise tax cuts but so far I've only seen the Conservatives actually implement them.

I don't really understand your position that taxes are a trivial issue and shouldn't be the "only" thing I care about. In fact they are, essentially, the only thing I care about - the role of government should be to provide protection of life, property, and country. Police and army. I don't give a damn what social programs they spend that money on, as long as they spend less of it. The less spending on social services, the better - so what else should I be looking at, other than tax cuts?

I'd love to see a government propose to eliminate all taxes and social programs except for a flat tax to pay for the things mentioned above. The problem is, this country is over 80% Socialist so no party that actually wants to get elected would campaign upon such a platform. The most pallatable version comes in the form of "tax cuts", which is the next best thing.

People don't realize that lower taxes wouldn't *just* raise one's individual disposable income; taxes raise costs *everywhere* in the economy. Picture having twice as much disposable income AND having to pay half as much for gas, housing, utilities and consumer electronics. Many of us could be living like kings with the income we receive if it wasn't for the money that gets taken away from us (and spent on garbage like AdScam or the Gun registry).

The only other issue to me is debt repayment, which the Conservative party also mandates doing unless they've recently changed their mandate.
