Seriously, the deer theory is so bad.

Tell them that you were driving at night and that a biker was driving in the middle of the street so you had to pull out and hit a wall.
That is something that I would believe, because you confess that YOU hit a wall (and therefore are somewhat responsible), but on the other hand you weren't because you didn't want to kill someone, and the biker was responsible for not having lights or something.

If my kid would tell me that someone did that damage to my car when it was just parked outside, I wouldn't believe it for a second.

how about... he was trying to avoid a deer that jumped in the road and hit some kind of divider/guard rail?
Ian
say you were trying to run down googooly, they'll buy you a new car :D

the best cover story are the ones closest to the truth. It helps you remember, if you drastically change your story. You also have to look int to issues of your cover story as well. Hit a deer? where's the blood? where did you hit it exactly? where's the carcus?

Hit and run? where's the other paint? what model? Most likely going to file a FALSE police report. 10 bucks you will screw up info.

I would Hit it! :toothless

that's going to be expensive to fix
they're going to have to replace the front bumper, front fender, front door, rear door, rear quarter panel and the rim as well

looking at somewhere in the area of 3000-8000 all said and done probably

they're not going to pound out the dents, they'll just remove said parts and replace them with fresh color matched ones

I didn't read past page 1, but forget the deer story - they wouldn't jack up his rim, as it would take metal to metal or a composite wall. It's also not likely he hit a wall, as the corner isn't damaged, and that would have been the first point of contact, unless it was a perfect sideswipe on a very low wall (expressway median or parking lot light base?) since the mirror is still there.

Take a look at the scratches closely and determine if there's paint left on his car. If not, an insurance company will know it's not another car.

You're in VA, so first I have to tell you that I'm a UNC fan, and I hate Duke even more than you do right now. Second, do you have any snow (or will you this week)? Since you southerners can't even deal with three snowflakes on the ground, he could easily call dad on a Thursday during exam week and say it happened in a slippery parking lot, a day after dad is confident he couldn't have been partying, and was likely studying.

don't help him...he made his own bed, now he has to deal with it. if he suffers no consequence, he will not learn his lesson.

i had this problem with my ex. he would drink and drive all the time and f'd up his 100k car like 3 times. he never learned because he always got out of it with a good attorney and filing false claims (i guess those hurricanes were a blessing in disguise). anyway, i think he's doing better with that, but for a while there, we used to have some pretty heated arguments over his behavior. i couldn't stand it that he was so dense to not realize that he could lose everything in the blink of an eye over something so stupid.

That I agree with. The guy probably has no idea that the problem is bigger than what he has to tell his dad.

People, taking a ing cab is NOT that hard. Are you really that lazy that you can't deal with getting a ride to get your car the next day, and switch off who drives downtown next week?

It really seems like guy fell asleep while he was driving. He obviously didn't choose what he hit that woke him up. And his rim isn't even cracked, he hit nothing head-on, and didn't kill anyone. I didn't mention hurting or killing himself, since that matters not (if it doesn't to him, it sure shouldn't to us).

I'm going to go say a prayer that when I go home for Christmas that all of my family is alive and healthy and isn't the victim of someone like this guy.

Or, more importantly, that someone other innocent person would...

WHAT.

a DEER caused that damage?

In a situation like this, if I need to lie for any reason, I try to be as vague as possible. You could just say you had your car parked and you came outside the next morning only to see that damage....then when they ask 'how the could that happen to a parked car?', you say...'i was home drunk off my ass asleep, how the should i know'

or you can go with the deer theory i guess.

With no paint on the car?

Insurance companies are a bit smarter than the average bear.
