Here is the situation. I recently moved into an apartment, it's pretty old, wasn't too clean when I moved in. When my girlfriend stayed over before, she woke up with several bite marks. little red bumps, but always two beside eachother.. about 1 or 2 cm apart from eachother. I got some bug spray, and sprayed it around generally throughout the whole appartment, not really well, just to get it in the air, incase there were some kind of bugs around.
I also have a cat. When I brought her here, she didn't have fleas. Anyways, after she was here, she was scratching abit more than usual, so I got her a flea spray and sprayed her down.
After that, my girlfriend still is getting bite marks, and also now she is getting rashes. I have gotten only 2 or 3 bites this entire time,, she has got maybe 20-30 bites. I have emptied a whole can of bug spray that is supposed to kill common bugs like fleas, ticks, etc. I have sprayed my cat 3 times with the cat flea spray (she is sensitive to it though, she starts drooling heavily whenever she licks herself afterwards, so it's kinda sad).
I don't believe my cat has fleas anymore, because she really doesn't itch, and seems happy. But my girlfriend is still waking up with new bites.
Does this really sound like fleas, or perhapse something else? Anyone else ever had a situation like this? Any things I could do?
I have begun a very extensive cleaning of my appartment now, but not sure what else to do.
Thanks for any insight~
Edit:
Oh yeah, and I can't visibly see any bugs or insects, or droppings.
And... this whole thing has been going on for about a month.
And I have hardwood floors. There is one area rug.
And it's not herpes. :P
And the bites are really itchy for her |

Kill the cat. If it is not bringing fleas to your home, it is certainly not killing them either.
If all else fails, planting marigolds around your yard works great as a bug repellent because the flowers give off a fragrance bugs do not like. This is a great way to ward off mosquitoes without using chemical insecticides. |
