actually, the total value of the 3 raises of 8% each year is = 25.9712 percent. that's a huge percentage raise...

right? LMAO what's right? Oh poor workers have to actually walk around instead of sitting on their fat asses and pretend like they don't know anything. Most of the time you ask them something they tell you to look on the map, you buy a metrocard and they give you the wrong one and they claim they did their job right. Why? Cause they can't mess up. This has happened to me and everyone i know MANY times. They don't deserve anything they are asking for. And as soon as Sharpton joined this little event you know it's bull.

Most unions are rediculase. And the MTA should be ripped apart just like Reagan did with the pilot's union, as i said earlier.

Who cares about the people selling metrocards? They want to complete eliminate their jobs altogether anyhow. You're talking about the bus drivers, subway conductors, and all of the people that work in the union (I guess this includes the maintenance people, right?).

How many of you get raises for your jobs that are annual and sometimes performance based? I know I get a performance based raise each year. I'd be ing pissed if I didn't. I mean, there's inflation to deal with. Gas prices increase, food, entertainment, etc. How would you like it if your quality of life decreased the longer that you stayed with your job because they didn't increase your pay?

As for me, I'll be walking to work tomorrow. My firm just sent out their contingency plan, which includes a bus from the Flatbush Mall and one from Yankee Stadium making stops on their way to my firm. Normally, I have to be in at 10 am. Under this plan, I have to catch a bus at 8:05 near Union Square. I'd rather sleep another hour and walk (while trying to get a cab if there's not a massive traffic jam) since I only have to go from 14th to the Financial District. Wouldn't be the first time I've made that walk, though it will be a bit colder tomorrow.

I specifically said that I don't mind bus drivers who actually do their jobs. People who sit inside a booth AND DO NOTHING, do not have a motivation to complain! They are getting a good deal as it is. They got their 3+percent raise. Bus drivers aren't going anywhere because we'll always need them, at least in the next 50 years. Train operators are staying where they are, too. So, who did we miss that NEEDS a raise? And you're talking about performance based. Please tell me how you are going to evaluate a dumbass in a booth telling you look at the map or literally handing you your metrocard?

Like I said, those jobs are going to be nonexistant soon because they're worthless.

then what's the problem if they are worthless? The drivers and such deserve to get more based on performance, but that's about it.

okay maybe I am not understanding but 8 x 3 = 24 right!! maybe I worded it wrong. Seeing as how the average person get 4% that's a lot seeing as how they aren't the best workers of the bunch

So WTF ever happened to you? try and get a booth workers number and she shot you down. How often do you ride the subway. Do I like the way things are right now HELL NO!!!!!!!!! of course things could be better. I agree that it should be a performance based raise but that's not there only concern. These workers go to work everyday in a place that is unsafe!!! They get no respect and they keep this city moving. Even the ones that "give you the wrong MetroCard". I take the 1 train from South Ferry every morning for work and the line from the booth is huge with TOURISTS!!!!!!!!!!! Now if that isn't hell on earth I don't know what is and I have never seen these people say look at the map, they open the map and show these people ALL the places they want to go....ALL of them.

They way you have reacted is way negative, like too negative. Chill the out!!!

The MTA and its nepotism-favoring BOARD just sucks -- they don't seem to know how to properly deal with the surplus (giving $1.00 rides to passengers...halfassed attempt...couldnt' they direct those monies toward improving some of the conditions in some train stations/2nd Avenue Railroad Line. Can't blame the union and employees for wanting their fair share, considering the shiet they have to deal with on a daily basis.

EWww got forbid. I'd never sink that low. they always s up, machines are more efficient at this job than they are. therefore, they are worthless. i barely even see people bother with them anymore and just use the machines, for refilling and buying and such. I took buses and trains everyday and know a couple of people who work for the MTA.

Oh, unsafe...ok let them carry M4A1s then :)

Firstly, you can just toss Lepanto's remarks out the window, hes a idiot and his post show that..

I believe something needs to change, they need more reasons to keep working their jobs. I know i wouldnt work at a place where i didnt have a anual salery increase.

If they do strike tomorrow they get fine 25k the first day and 50 the next day, the fine keeps doubling along with fining the union and large sum of money. I really do hope they strike as i said if this is what it takes for things to change so be it.. Ill walk my happy ass to school tomorrow.
