what i dont get is....... why people are still payin so much money for the trains and all of that, they should b boycotting it until they fix their problems, especially since most of the trains that are runnin are crap i mean this is NYC its not like its some third world country, they could at least update their subways and trains for MTA.

They're not rats. They're night squirrels :p. I think The entire transit system needs to be revamped. It should be run like a business, not a public service. Train and bus fares as well as worker salaries should be based on level of service, production, and the condition of the system as a whole. Instead, we're seeing fare hikes and we're seeing MTA workers recieving raises but NOTHING HAS CHANGED FOR THE PASSANGERS! :whip: What transit workers do undisputedly deserve is clean facilities and mountain lions for the rats :nervous:.

They updated the subway cars and buses. But the stations are a different story which involves construction companies outside the TA with low bid scams.

Example: ABC Contractor bids $100M and is outbid by XYZ Contractor who wins with $200M. XYZ hires ABC at their quoted bid of $100M. Guess where the remaining $100M is going? Yes it's getting kicked back to whoever awarded the bid in the first place. That would be an MTA executive.

The MTA built a building at 2 B'way that had cost overruns. But people forget that part. They forget that their contruction projects always have cost overruns but blame workers for bad service when they want a simple wage increase so that they can take care of their families and loved ones.

You should see the amount the executives make.

Subway workers see things at their "office" that you won't see at a Fortune 500 company. They see rat infestations. Exposure to various dangerous inhalants and liquids. Ever see that black murky water in the middle of the track? No one knows what the hell that is. They have to clean up urine, feces and vomit after people relieve themselves thinking they're getting back at the TA. This is on top of the millions of newspapers and beverage containers like sodas and coffee cups that get thrown out that never make the garbage cans. They have to endure the occasional irate passenger who for some reason blames an individual worker on his own tardyness.

A friend of mine when he started at the TA, payed .71 cents a gallon for heating oil in Rockland County years ago. He now pays around $3.50 a gallon. His pay rate at the TA has only gone up around 10 percent in 13 years while the price of heating oil went up 500 percent in the same time frame. And that's heating oil alone. Other needed things have gone up in price as well.

Subway workers are an easy target for some of you. But you people will never know the amount of money a manager makes. A low level field manager makes around 120K a year. Imagine what a VP makes. I can tell you that people at Kalikows' level have pensions in three to five years that equal in the millions.

Thank goodness the semester is over for me (including tests). However, it will be difficult to get to any parties (I live way uptown), including tonite:whip:
