Firstly, you can just toss Lepanto's remarks out the window, hes a idiot and his post show that..
I believe something needs to change, they need more reasons to keep working their jobs. I know i wouldnt work at a place where i didnt have a anual salery increase.
If they do strike tomorrow they get fine 25k the first day and 50 the next day, the fine keeps doubling along with fining the union and large sum of money. I really do hope they strike as i said if this is what it takes for things to change so be it.. Ill walk my happy ass to school tomorrow. |
+1
something needs to be done |

8 x 3 is 24. but
example
first year my salary is 100$ for the year
so i have an 8% raise. my 2nd year salary is $108.
i have another 8% raise. now my 3rd year salary is $108 * 1.08 = $116.64.
i get my last 8% raise. now my 4th year salary is $116.64 * 1.08 = $125.9712
so effectively, my salary has been raised 25.9712% over three years |

They need to get rid of Kalikow and the other MTA bigwigs then take bids from corporations to privatize the transit system. I promise you within the decade the system would run so much better with the city bureaucracy thats involved now.
That being said, I'm lucky for once I work above 96th street, no car pooling is in effect up there. I'll just drive in and park infront of someone's overpriced co-op on park ave. :tongue2 |

i really hope they don't strike cuz we have a concert at work tomorrow, and half of our audience won't show up if there's no public transportation!
taxis will still be running, though.. they aren't part of the strike.
I know that Columbia's contingency plan is to have buses running from penn station, port authority, the 125th st. LIRR stop, and the george washington bridge to get people up to campus who live far away. That doesn't apply to me, though, cuz I'm done with school now. :D :D
I do have to get to work tomorrow tho... if they strike, I'll have to walk the 34 blocks & 1 avenue, which in nice weather is fine, but in 20 degrees would really suck. :(
Rachel :wtf: |

well i hope there is NO transit strike cuz then our Secret Santa Dinner will be postponed!!!;( :( Major streets will be closed...taxis will be hard to find...and expensive to take...def not making Howells then. ive been looking forward to Friday ALL WEEK!!! :T
I just feel for everyone in the city who have to make it to work in the face of such circumstances...
man the timing is JUST great...
on the other hand, if there is a strike, i get to work from home :D |

i hope the same thing happens that happened a few years ago when they tried to go on strike and they were gonna fine them. or break up their union like Reagan did with the pilot's union. Bloody imbeciles. don't do ANYTHING and complain. 'cept bus drivers, i give them props. |
Obviously you've never had a train fly by you at 35mph inches from your face. Or had 600 volts of direct current zap you harder than the static you get from a carpet. Or seen rats as big as cats walk by you. Or had some crackhead rob you deep in the tunnels hundreds of feet from the safety of the station. Or nearly get hit by a train.
Gimme the time and place and I can put you there in a pair of diapers cause your gonna stain them. |
