Actually that was Gabriel & Dresden that did that.
Ok after reading this thread i'm confused. Is this just the same as the ASOT megamix at the beginning of the year put onto cd? And if it is, are you guys complaining about that or his mixing or both?
So far all i've figured out is that RJT doesn't like that ctprincess chick and Hawtin > Armin (which I already knew) |

If anyone thinks ARMIN is a more skilled DJ than
Hawtin then they're way off already.
He IS skilled, but to me ARMIN simply plays
the music i prefer way more than Hawtin.:happy2:

Agreed.
I don't think any sane person could argue that Armin is more skilled than Hawtin... Hawtin's music just isn't as accessible... |

Think of it this way; If you're a connoisseur of fine coffee, Starbucks just isn't going to cut it for you, you want something with it's own unique flavor and effect. ASOT and Armin are the Starbucks of EDM, particularly Trance music, and this is their holiday gift pack sampler that has a little of everything in it, but no real substance what so ever.

haha definately.
lol @ southern sun..ur an idiot..best 2 hr mix u've heard?? what a joke |

Hawtin's extremely more talented, though I'd have to agree, I can't really get into his stuff. Listened to the new DE9 CD and was bored to .
That said, I've been losing the whole ASOT show since the megamix for episode 200. I've been busy at work, so I miss a decent amount of shows or at least sections of shows, but everytime I tune in, I just want to listen to a set that I have loaded on my computer over what's playing.
This ASOT playing right now sucks (The top 20). It's became painfully obvious that too many kids are using this as a replacement for their pop music since Britney and the Backstreet Boys suck now. I mean, just look at the number of cheesy vocal tracks (some of which I'll admit to enjoying) on that list, yet better tracks played on ASOT were ignored. Where's Yahel - Behind Silence, Thomas Bronzwaer - Close Horizon, hell, Ernesto vs. Bastian - Dark Side of the Moon (this one blows my mind for why it's missing, it's vocal, little cheesy, but better than half of the tracks listed), The Chamber - Inertia, Icone - The Way Home (this one didn't even make the megamix????)? |

Seen these songs a thousand times, only difference is theres a lot of them. Very creative:rolleyes: |
maths never was my strong point although i did say that without really thinking about how long he would be playing the tracks. its a fine bit of work if u ask me... theres some banter going on about money making and so forth. isnt every CD anyone makes.? its a nice way to round off the year on 2CDs....
i dont want to get in a major debate over this but yes armind are doing it to make money thats why its coming out, if it wouldnt make money it wouldnt have a release. if no1 bought Cds anymore trance would be dead on its arse in a few months so by buying this CD we are putting money back into what we all love... some1 is prob going to slate me for saying all this but its just what i think. :happy2: |

for me the funniest aspect of this is the fact that the Armin worshippers are using Armins use of Ableton as proof of his skills. Ableton is just a tool. It's not Gods gift to mankind.
oh and no. Armin was not the first dj to use ableton. |

Probably depends on what you mean by "such a megamix". |

| And what would be the differenct between a megamix with Ableton and a megamix with, let's say, protools? :conf: |

Sure, but if he's going to do it by peddling music in "new wrapping" I will reserve my right to criticize.

No he wasn't. Google "Ben Liebrand" and remember to do some research the next time you want to make statements like that. |
