| In MTV cribs, which was filmed after the red sux won the world series, Johnny Damon pretty much blatently made fun of Babe Ruth, and the Yankees regarding the "curse". Ever since then, I've pretty much hated him, and am not looking foward to him being on the yankees, he's a friggin doucebag. |

| Still a bad deal, they overpaid for a weak arm in the outfield when they obviously needed starting pitching. That team doesn't have trouble scoring runs... |

You and the rest of Yankee fans that are thinking like you right now will be all over Damon's nuts when he starts hitting some game winning runs. |

| Bernie has had a noodle arm in center for the past 15 years so he isnt a downgrade at all, he can go get the ball alot better than bernie too, they only need someone to cover alot of ground. How many centerfielders throw peolpe out at the plate any way other than edmonds/jones? 18-19 on stolen bases career 312 hitter hes a good fit even though he is a deuce bag!! and the other main thing is he weakens the red sox and changes the balnce of power in the divison. |

Need starting pitching... well that's true but it's not logistically possible at the moment. They have a 6 starters with most of them making too much jack.
Randy 16 million
Moose 15 million
Wright 7 million
Pavano 10 million
Then they have Wang and Chacon (who are by far the best value and could be the best of the lot).
So whose gonna take Pavano and Wright before they would spend even MORE money to get a Millwood or something? If anybody takes Wright or Pavano, then assuredly the Yanks will prob have to pickup some of the tab. Moose sucks now but at his salary, he's not going anywhere. We know Big Bust isn't going anywhere with his salary too.
And by signing Damon, they get someone without surrending Wang, Cano, Hughes, Duncan, etc. or whatever. It's just money and they have lots of it anyway. There really isn't a lot of good CF's out there.
If they trade Pavano or Wright... ok.. then let's talk upgrade. We all know those guys suck and so.. a lot more difficult to get rid of.
Plus, they just got 4 new relievers from an area that was dreadful last year. 2 lefties and Dotel/Farnsworth...two flamethrowers. |

I'm a big Yankees fan and I'm really NOT looking forward to this. The prospect of Damon in center seems very bizzare to say the least.
(The close up of his mug on TV after BOS finished off the Yanks in the 2004 ALCS was one of my least favorite moments in watching sports.) I expect him to be treated similar to Giambi at the start of last year and would think that until he contributes significantly that he wouldn't be treated well in the Bronx. |
