torontotrance
Hey i did not start the fight but see how easily things get sidetracked. I'm not sure who to blame for this. But please continue debating whether judge jules is a good deejay.
Eugene
Yes, let's not get sidetracked.
I do have respect for PvD and all his fans, by the way, and I didn't want to start flaming.
I just wanted to defend the music I like against a snobby attack from someone here.

I think this sums up the general feeling nicely (nicked from the UK forum):

lol @ all of you against jules :D:D:D

for some reason, i find it so hilarious that the majority of TA'ers on this board see jules spinning as inferior to other known trance dj's. the man is an entertainer, he plays big hits. he gets paid. just because you guys don't agree with his style doesn't make him a e dj. he's excellent. everybody has their bad times. i think some of the negative energy that people bring with them while listening to his sets contributes to some of his mess ups sometimes. its quite sad actually, that the man can play one tune and have the audience turn they're backs on him; yet let some other trance dj play the same song, and the crowd absolutely RAVES.

seems as though we've been spoiled these past years with talented dj's; enough to where when we hear somebody wreck in the middle of a set we boo. it shouldnt be that way, especially with the more well known dj's. i say, if somebody wrecks, cheer instead of boo. i say we go back to our roots of club music. lets go to dance, not critique. clearin the floor and ruining a dj's evening, just dance people.
professional dj's have made it this far, so they must be doing something right, correct?!

on the intelligent dance music issue, if you guys ARE going to watch a dj spin instead of listen, stay @ home. except f0x...i think him and PVD have a thing going. hehehe :P

just ma 2 cents peepz...

Personally, JJ used to be one the top DJs for me.. about 3-4 years ago... Lately, he seems to be just playing what everyone else wants to hear, but I still gotta give him props for that Qontact set... I still listen to that one... kinda like Oakenfold... he's just past his moment of glory...

Without a doubt, I feel that Paul Oakenfold is the best DJ when it comes to mixing. His inteligent music and incredibly sweet mixing makes a brilliant set. He is one kind of DJ. The *big* DJ.

However, DJ's like Judge Jules are in a different kind of DJing altogether. He is the last stop in the chain before a track gets commercialised, in fact he's the sort of DJ that makes the record industry its money. He takes good tracks that have already been championed by the *big* DJs like Oakie / Digweed etc, and plays them to death - making sure that the record industry releases the tracks.

I have seen JJ live many times, and I have yet to have a bad night when I have. I listen to his Radio1 show and it's nothing compared to his real job.

I have respect for the man, and to be fair... He's a lot better at what he does, than the majority of us (11th in the world. Pretty Good!!).
Mattyk
agreed there... I shouldn't have been so quick to judge on him or oakie... cause when it DOES come down to it... they have more ability & experience at the job than any of us do...

I personally think anyone who disses Jules is a hypocrit. He is a man with a talent and he entertains. I went to see Jules at the same time Kentylad did...the lad who started this thread...and i thought he was good. He shook my hand, signed his autograph on my ticket for me and was generally a nice bloke.
The fact he dont enjoy the dance scene much any more is because he is such a sought after DJ, that he see's all the fockin e clubs and see's just what the UK Dance Scene is turning into...drugs, fights and an excuse to stay out late ed on any kind of chemical.
Its great to have a few drinks, get ya in the mood for a mad one...and then go off to Slinky's and have a good night along with other civilised people who are there for the music and want to have a good time...not go and get started on by some wanker who clearly cant handle his drink...and just because you bumped into him while he was OD-ing outside.
Jules is a class DJ, and plays a wide variety of music styles...from Latin House...right through to hard and uplifting Trance. Like Kentylad said, he has the balls to experiment with his music and entertain the people there who want to be entertained. Thats his Job description. And he loves his Job...he has a degree in law so if he didnt like being a in DJ...he could be a lawyer...but its obvious what he prefers.

If you think he is cheese, fair enough...dont listen to him! But i think its about personal preference of music and DJ's... and you cannot knock people for that...Jules plays what he thinks suits the crowd...if it dont suit you...you is in the wrong in club. So dont knock him, and give the man some credibility for his skills.

All you 'Trancers' seem to do is friggin argue. Pathetic.

Best regards, no offence meant to anyone in particular.

hmm..
he's been experimenting TOO MUCH imo..
he & oakenfold both have the ability to make an awesome set. but they both decided to stick to their own stlye..
In the Dj industry, it's like any other business.
eg. Diners, customers orders beef , customers gets beef.
the deal is simple.

if u can get what the crowd wants, and gives it to them, u have fulfil yr job.
JJ hasn't been doing it well i must say ...
