Should Toronto have cameras everywhere like in England? (pg. 4)

I absolutely think that cameras should be installed in our city...

Not in residential areas so much but more in the major city core areas such as Yonge St, and in most intersections...

There is absolutely no need to monitor some sidestreet in Etobicoke but all along major street would be a great idea...

These could be used to witness traffic accidents as well as major crimes being commited...People would definately think twice if they were being watched...

London may be an extreme but I wouldn't mind it at all if there were cameras in the hot spots...

and Barfly...I don't know what bubble you think you're living in but I'll tell you that MOST (pretty close to everyone at least)of the population breaks some stupid law at one point or another...I'm pretty sure you've broken some major ones...

Id rather have real cops present than a camera recording every move.

guess you wouldn't wanna use the video evidence in court then when the cops do catch the theif b/c they know what he/she looks like thanks to CCTV.

"I'm pretty sure you've broken some major ones" what the is that supposed to mean? you don't even know me and you're sure i've broken some major laws...i might be living in a bubble but you're living with you're head up your ass if you're going to make a statement like that when you don't know anything about me...

It's a moot point when it comes to lowering gun violence, since the people committing the crimes are already being caught and arrested. The problem is that judges keep letting them off with a slap on the wrists (if that).

LOL... when reading this Scott.. it almost seems as if it was painful for you to agree with Jay :haha: :p

Just think of how much money the government would save if we had a justice system that didn't keep letting re-offenders off over and over and over again, cuz I am sure that some of this gun related violence isn't their first time involved in it or in trouble with the law for that matter. Make the laws more strict..plain and simple!
Stop letting these re-offenders off, start coming up with harsher punishment/laws for their consequences and start making it known. I guarantee that these younger kids out there will think twice if they know they will never step foot outside of a jail cell in their lives ever.

You know what would be interesting to see.. of these kids/young adults commiting these crimes, how educated they are and by who? are the parents making an effort to educate their children in regards to this stuff? or what about the schools?
You really do need to wonder where this all stems from and why cuz there has to be something behind it all, imo

well that certainly justifies you making a public statement that i've broken major laws:rolleyes:

first of all these guys are shooting up people in the busiest spots of toronto so they are obviously not scared of being seen, therefore i dont really see how cameras will help stop the violence. second is living in toronto really that bad that we have people not looking forward to see their future and piss away their present? i lived in far worse places in the world and i dont remember seeing this kind of .

Its not an invasion of your privacy, if you are out in public.

Im all for it.

It may not reduce crime too much, but it would definitely help catching criminals, im sure.

It's not?

So if I hang around in the bank and videotape you entering in your PIN, that's okay?

If you dont cover up when typing in your PIN, you deserve to have your money stolen.
