"...number one in the world! And we believe every bit of that !"
Best night out for me yet. For me this was even better than Ferry @ Seven a few months back. The flow of his set is just not matchable. Flawless mixing and track selection. At one point he played Randy Katana - Play it Louder, but it was a mix I hadn't heard before. During the long 3 minute buildup, there were breakbeats layered ontop. Is this another one of the famous PVD reworks that we will never see for purchase? Those reworks of his definately put him above the rest of the crowd. Timo Maas - Pictures...I want that PVD rework now! I'd like to see a tracklist posted. The last three tracks I believe were Crush, Time of Our Lives, and For an Angel. Highlight of the night for me was probably Dogzilla - Without You. Anyone who was standing ontop of the subs with me clearly knows how to party. Saw Matthias on the adjacent raised section getting krunk as hell. Bravo, Dallas.
Not the best videos in the world...but you get the idea.

... the amazing vibe and energy was exactly what PVD needed to lay down his impecable sounds and make the crowd explode into the superb party that it was. In my 9 PVD attendences here and elsewhere, I can assure that this performance is ranked very near the top of the list. His mixing techniches and trackselection reflect perfection with an increasing energetic flow that is felt track after track....
oh, Blue's has a very POWERFULL sound system. |

2- Seamus Haji & Paul Emanuel - Take Me Away (Big Love)
I am 100% sure this was his second track played. Yes it is a house track and Desyn plays the vocal version, but Paul is playing it now. |

also, whats up matthias, it was good to meet you... i was the guy in the black collared shirt that talked to you inside, and again outside afterwards. from reading posts on here i can tell you are very knowledgable about music and you said you have seen PVD play several times. i was just curious what you thought of the set, and how it compared to others you've seen and heard. i think it would be pretty hard to play a set that was much better than that, but who knows...i certainly wan't expecting to see what i saw last night. |
Heh...well I have seen better sets, best for me was his set at Space in Miami on November 4 last year. The set last night was one of the best TX sets and in my opinion was better than in Miami, the vibe and energy of the place was what made the night fun. Would write more but gotta check out of the hotel. Great seeing everyone :) |

You listed this track twice but I fail to recall hearing it once. However Jerry Bonham did play it at Blue in 2003 prior to Paul playing. The only time I recalled Paul playing that track was at Meltdown 4.

This was a new re-edit of the track, perhaps done live with the Serrato/Ableton. Several changes in arraingment as well as a beefed up percussion line. Glad it wasn't the usually UK club mix he played and honestly happy that Nothing But You wasnt played. As he plays them ALL the damn time. :) |

Yes, it was an absolutely incredible night...one that I remember forever. Paul kept the energy going throughout his set, only pausing briefly once in his set to give a much needed break from dancing/jumping like crazy...haha (I am REALLY sore right now) - and my ears are STILL ringing from Thursday...that soundsystem (50,000 watts) was LOUD...but it was crystal clear...you could hear every note and minute detail of the music...and it gave that powerful punch to the kickdrums to make you go absolutely crazy....
As I recall, Paul played "Reflekt feat. Deline Bass - Need to feel loved" as his encore track #2, not Dogzilla...and he played Mindcircus, the new mix of TIme of Our lives, and the symphony mix of The Other Side...please correct me if I'm wrong.
There were a bunch of tracks that I never heard before, most of his first 30 minutes of the set was totally new to me (the latest liveset I've heard before this night was from 24 December)....I really liked Max Graham "Automatic Weapon" when he played that....the crowd went NUTS...and then John O'Callaghan - Vendetta...that was cool too. There was one really melodic track with a breakdown that he played 30-45 minutes into the set that I LOVED...I have no idea what track this was, but it was more epic/melodic, and it had a breakdown/instrumental part...definately we will hear more of this track soon.
This was #5 for me, and I truly monumental night - I actually got to shake hands with Paul after he exited the DJ Booth, and I had a short word with him, told him I had been a fan of his for many years, and that it was an honor to FINALLY meet him...and he said "Thanks"...that was cool :-)
I am sure we will be hearing more of these tracks soon in the upcoming months ahead...he played LA last night, plays San Francisco tonight, he's off to Stockholm on Wednesday, and then Paris next Saturday...he's a busy artist, and he keeps the crowds going wild, that he did for sure on Thursday night!!
Have a great PVDay,
-Ward |
