Yeah she was amazing. I'm not sure if she was paid to dance at Stereo. I saw her at d lounge on st-denis the day before and she was dancing quite the same style but on hip hop music. |

Do you guys mean the girl that did a little danceshow on the backstage?
That's Kamaka.
She was a showgirl-type dancer in Boston that fell in love with Stereo and decided to move here.
She's a sweetheart |

ONE FOR THE BOOKS, HANDS DOWN.
I got to Stereo at 3:15am-3:30am. The guy before Porter was so-so-ish, not bad but not OMGWTF great. He was slow for about 20 minutes, and then he kicked things up the last 20 mins before Porter came on.
So, Porter embarks on the quest to fulfill my love for house music in a 4-hour set. He did, very well. My God, the only other nights I've had at Stereo that are comparable to PORTERHOUSE are Frankie Knuckles and Mark Farina. I danced, chilled with lots of new, cool, funky people.
My usual members: MT, Juan and Moevalith. MT&Juan: remember the front and back speaker moments!
TAs (very sorry if I forgot any of you), I'm very bad with names + awesome music = no chance in hell of me remembering the tracks, let alone names. Ninja, Anne, Lopitrance, Tag, Hakim, Light78, elie, tonybologna (what a fkn small world, lol), sure there are more, sorry :p
So Porter destroyed it, track after track. There was NO sitting down for this guy. The 1st time I saw him was Sept 16th 2005, and he spun lots of funky (less proggy) which I adored. Saturday morning at 4am, I heard some of the BEST "slamming, proggy, Digweed/Lawler inspired basslines as part of some tracks and of course, the funk" HOUSE MUSIC I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE.
Thanks to Ninja for introducing me to Porter at the beginning of his set. Pure faintage right there. And also for having me meet Chris Reavey, awesomeness!
Waiting in line to be searched, I hear someone yell out "Stereohead!" (followed by many more callouts of that kind throughout the night, lol) and it was Eli Wilkie! Very cool guy, awesome set dude! Sick basslines, darker stuff, REALLY good. Hope to see you again soon...
I became the stage's bitch for about an hour or so and then, I saw the front speaker was free. So I went. And stayed there about 2 and a half hours til the music stopped. Went up to say thanks to Steve and Eli. I asked Porter when he'd be coming back. He said 2-3 months and that Stereo is his FAVOURITE place to spin in the world. 2 nice lil pieces of info I thought I'd share with my fellow PorterWhores :p Went to StereoBar after (Stereo ended at 10-am10:30am-ish) and danced some MORE with Anne, sti on est HOT ;) Just Jonathan is sick, not the 1st time I've seen him. I was the only one who wanted to stay to dance more at 12:30pm so I went to say thanks to Jonathan and he's like, "Ohhhh no, you've been dancing the WHOLE time you've been in here! I wanna play one song, just for you." Again, so nice...He spun Love Generation, perfect song to end my Porter Journey. All in all, I danced for about 9 hours. :wtf::nervous:
Afterparty, faaakkk...
So I end up in Pointe fkn Claire with fellow TAs: MT, Ninja, Anne, Lopitrance, Tag and Hakim after getting fkn stuck in traffic on St. John's Blvd. Oh and guys, I don't wanna bargain with scary Taxi drivers anymore :nervous: ...$80.00 later :wtf: I end up at (also a TA member)'s house. His TA name is Piett. And people, please. Watch out for this guy...His ing capabilities behind the decks are un-ing believable. His technical abilities (after only 2 years of spinning) are completely unexpected and mindblowing. His track list will kill most electro, dark, proggy house lovers. Basically, you like Digweed/Lawler? This guy will ruin you. I want him as the next resident at Aria, he'd fit the place so wellllll...YOUR SET-UP IS FKN MALADADADE, I was so impressed. Julius, I can't wait to have a mixing session with you! Thanks so much for the hospitality and the ing near 10-hour set you spun! Plus all the tips on mixing ;) See you at Mauro! So many funny "moments", LOL. "Uh-oh, Erika's having a moment." How many times did I hear that? HAHA. MT and I left Julius' place at 2am Sunday morning, I went to sleep at around 5am and dreamt of house music. Overall, I was exposed to ing great house music this weekend for about, oh I dunno, 20 hours. And I slept only 8. Again, :wtf: .
I was NOT expecting any of this to happen. This weekend came outta nowhere. Every time I go to Stereo, I'm reminded of why it's my favourite place and my 2nd home. You go in there leaving your ego at the door and bringing with you all the love you have for EDM. My God, what a place to be in :):):) Eeessshhh, I can't wait to start spinning...
Ya so, all-in-all, this night gets a 9.9/10, simply because perfection doesn't exist. ;)
So fantastic how people who don't know each other and who can be in the same room with each other for almost 12 hours AND have this amazing connection at the end of it...
All because of house music, wow.
Oh and I lost my voice. :wtf: |
oh so well said....i can totally imagine your nite unfold unexpectedly...this was my life in montreal. :( my heart breaks...what Stereo is for you, used to be ARIA for me. |
