PORTERHOUSE INSANITY
Getting There:
It's about a quarter to 3, and I'm standing outside Stereo with Erika, Rob and his girlfriend, waiting for Moevalith, Juan and a bunch of other people to show up so that we could get inside. Hakim comes out of Stereobar with a buddy and I immediately realize that this party is going to be crazy, Hakim's excitement made me want to go inside even more. Tag and a friend of his, Sabrina, come out of Stereobar shortly after..and before I know it, we're 10 people outside (most of us TAs) eager to get inside and get the party started. Tag informs me that ninja is in the building and that they've chilled and drank with Porter :wtf:..I die of envy and regret not meeting up with them in Stereobar. We get inside, and I see Lopi, ninja, Jester, and I can't remember who else around the coat-check area all pumped and ready. Lots of people in que and the music is banging through the small speakers. Good start.
The Party:
By now I've met all the principle characters and the DJ before Porter, can't think of his name now, is playing pretty slamming music. I remember at one distinct point I turn to Tag and tell him how much this DJ reminds me of Creator because he was putting HARD and fast-paced DESTRUCTION beats. Immediately I get impressed with Stereo's new-found confidence in this music..the DJ before the main attraction playing these kind of beats can only mean one thing: the main attraction is going to RIP the place apart like there's no tomorrow, accept no in' substitutes bitches, Porter is on his way.
The pre-Porter DJ span 'Work That ' and that's a sick track but ninja is right when he says that he was doing insane build-ups (ala Creator style) that led to nothing..pretty annoying for a while.
But...............then......................THE MAN comes on the boards..
Imagine Stereo as a velvet cloth with this tall dude from Boston called Steve just coming and ing RIPPING IT TO SHREDS..k? The dude was so SICK from start to end, I could literally go on and on describing how amazing his set was, but I don't have the time or the luxury right now. Suffice it to say that all the TAs here know what they're talking about when they say that Porter was something else that night. The energy levels were UNBELIEVEABLE, even though the crowd could of been more into it, I was focused on the DJ and danced my night away..
I could easily say that no-body does a build-up the way Porter does it.
Classic Moment: The place is dim, the dance floor is pretty full but there is more than enough room to dance and be free, Porter is making an insane build up. The lights go ing crazy, start going with the same pace as the beats that are about to collide into a monster track...Porter does his signature head-bow because he can't ing believe that he's creating that moment and just before the drop he dissapears under the decks totally, lowers himself so much that he vanished for a couple of seconds..AS SOON as the drop kicks in, he raises himself, in synch with it, so that we could see him BUT HE STILL KEEPS HIS HEAD SO LOW that we can't see his face. It was SO ing cool guys, wow. :eyespop: :crazy:
A bit later on in the night, Erika does something amazing and gives me a braclet for the VIP room. What a bonus! Thank you so much for that. I see ninja, we get through the usual 'OMG this FKN dude is SICK' talk
and we go to the VIP...I meet Porter!! Such a chilled guy, felt like I could talk to him about anything for hours, told me he was coming back in 2-3 months and that he adores Stereo...called us 'warriors'.The guy's a KING!!
Eli comes on after Porter, and just keeps the party going. I.e. the man was sick and I was glad to have met him as well. You are an awesome DJ.
By the time the end was coming near, I felt ing sad. I was dancing on the speaker at the back, and the lights come on, its me and Anne on the stage and accross from me is Stereohead on the other speaker. You can imagine..'ONE MORE TRACK!' 'PLEEEEEASSSEE, JUST ONE MORE!! AAHH Porterweluvyou!!!'
After that..its me, Juan, Moeavalith, Erika, Anne, ninja, Tag, Lopi, Hakim..we move to Stereobar and Erika and Anne just kept the party going. Way to go! I was pretty exhaused but still in shock after a night like that so i had a couple of beers with the guys.
The After-Party:
This is getting way too long so I'm gonna try and wrap it up, except this part can't be skipped or missed. The Afterparty was the bomb. Julius is crazy-good on Abelton and his track selection is SO impressive that it's not even funny. Pricless moments were ninja's reactions to most of the tracks he played, Erika spinning on Abelton, ninja spinning like Danny friekin' Howells, Zabiela's videos that made him look INhuman cuz he was so in good and of course good ol' Richie getting pumped on his minimal. WOOO!! :haha: Hilarious.
Thanks again for having us over Julius, we WILL have that party again after Mauro with guaranteed more people and more fun. Record sets pronto and post 'em so that all these people understand what we got the chance to experience.
To all the people that were there: YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME, every one of u: Ninja, Erika, Hakim, Tag, Lopi, Anne..great fun and good memories.
The weekend will go down in my books that's FOR SURE...So happy that Porter progressed in his style and that he's soo much better now.
PORTERHOUSE 4 LIFE! Nobody does it like them.

Ninja thanks for making the effort to talk to me at the start of the night, in the middle to end of Stereobar I guess I was less talkative cause I was playing it cool with the girl I'd just met. -winks- Also, thanks for the sip of water on the dance floor in the main room.
Oh and Lopi, don't know if you remember but @ Stereobar when you were sitting to my right and the petite girl in the white shirt came back, she went to the washroom, and motioned for you to move and sat right next to me... I don't think she meant for you to have to leave. She thought it was funny you just left and we had a laugh about it. :)

Personally I thought the last Porterhouse was musically much better and overall a better night. I had a blast and I'm glad I had some good come out of it as far as meeting new people from TA and outside of TA. I bumped into so many people all night and it was nice to be back @ Stereo after a month or so hiatus. |
Dude, I think I had 8 or 9 rum and cokes by then, I prolly didn't even realize someone was asking me to move over, hahahaha. It's all cool though, Stereobar was fun Stereo was more fun. Porter suprised the out of me with that set, lots of tracks I really have been dying to hear in a club and he dropped them, coolness. |

OMG nobody can understand the last 2 hours on that fkn speaker...So memorable...the whole freaken DJ booth was filled with the Boston Mafia Crew getting pumped off of mine and Nick's energy and they were just throwing back at us!
