I hate affirmative action

I can't control what people did 100 years ago...
i was sitting in my philosophy class this evening and i got paired with a really nice black girl. She said "is this your senior year"?, i said "yes". she said, "what are your plans after graduation?" i go "law school"... shes like "omg me too, George Washington just offered me $28,000 to go there plus free tuition" ... i was like "do you mean Thomas Jefferson, downtown?" "yeah thats what i meant" , "thats a good law school, I'm hoping to get in there, whats your GPA if you don't mind me asking?" "well, the school doesn't have many minorities so I sat down with some of the personal and they offered me their affirmative action program, how cool i might see you next year too!"
i in fight tooth and nail to get possible admissions and this happens, TODAY'S JUSTICE != A CENTURY AGO'S JUSTICE... |

On the same note, I love affirmative action.
Although on serious note, I don't think the current affirmative action system is set up correctly. Rather than go through racial qualifiers (or racial + socio-economic), it should be purely socio-economic. |

| it may not be the most fair thing in the world, yes. but still, diversity is pretty important in today's business, believe it or not. |

| my dad was 24th in line to be a police officer when they were hiring a long time ago. they hired 300 people of different nationalities ahead of him. |

dude, you are seperating people based on RACE... isn't the whole point of a free world to completely strip down racial barriers and not group people together? |

+1 for socio-economic AA. Racial descrimination is Racism no matter what form it takes. |

no. people were separated before, affirmative action's goal is to bring them back together. for certain reasons, minorities have fewer chances and resources to get good education - and that's what affirmative action offers them. of course, it is offensive for some white kid to hear that a black kid got a full scholarship just because he's black, but most of the times affirmative action serves a good purpose. |
