The fact is, Brees was left on Tuesday morning with nowhere else to go after he essentially failed the very rigorous physical examination the Miami Dolphins administered to him the previous day. Physical exams in the NFL are very subjective things, and the Miami medical staff felt that Brees' surgically repaired shoulder, although improving, wasn't quite far enough along for the financial exposure the Dolphins would have had if they had agreed to sign the former San Diego starter.

So, on Monday evening, with the medical evaluations in hand, the Dolphins, after determining that Brees and agent Tom Condon wouldn't reduce the contractual liability, turned their attentions back to acquiring quarterback Daunte Culpepper in a trade. Then, very early Tuesday morning -- reliable sources told ESPN.com -- Dolphins coach Nick Saban apprised Condon that Miami was out of the bidding for Brees. In fairness to Brees, Saban told Condon, the Dolphins would stay quiet about the results of the physical exam and the pending trade for Culpepper for a few hours. That would provide Condon and Brees, who had no negotiating leverage remaining with the Dolphins suddenly out of the picture, some time to complete the six-year, $60 million deal with Saints officials. In the end, the Dolphins simply thought Culpepper had a better chance of being on the field for training camp than Brees did.

"We're talking the quarterback position, right?" one Miami source said. "So what would you rather have, a guy coming off knee surgery or off shoulder surgery? You don't throw with your knee."

lol :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: thats crazy , this is almost as good as Damon going to the Yanks :haha: :haha:

ok so Daunte....
Brees has almost or the same type of injury of Pennington if im not mistaken, so yeah Im glad with Sabans desicion. So what Daunte will we get, I have no idea.Certainly will be alot better than anything we've had since Marino. Hopefully the fins can draft a speedy reciever to compliment Chambers to chase down Dauntes long throws and we got somethin here.

I heard TO is getting 10 million for one year.

Just the word off the grapevine, I have no idea if its correct.

$25 million for 3 years -
$5M for the first year, $8M for the second, $7M for the third, and $5M signing bonus

thats quite a lot of money.:eyes:

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope the Eagles are good this year so they can kick the out of Dallas. I can't wait to see their linebackers or Dawkins against TO. Its gonna be gruesome.:D

Eagles will always suck... they let any chance of winning go when they pulled that bogus TO suspension last year... I hope the Eagles organization crumbles... or should I say keeps crumbling...

wow see I went in the complete opposite direction.

I've always had a thing against Eagles fans, which are the worst in the NFL by far, but I love the organization now b/c of what they did to TO.

I love it how they had the balls to do what they did, and how they put their team values above winning. Not many organizations or coaches would have had the guts to do what they did.

yeah... but you don't do that to TO... Terrell Owens is one of a kind... he was the greatest trash talker of the past few years.......................BECAUSE HE BACKED IT UP!!!

I'm all for the Belichick approach of taking no ... but you don't do that to TO, Eagles had no right, because they signed the guy, they should have realized what type of a person he was.

Which is why I bring up the Parcells/TO relationship. I think it would take a miracle for Bill to put TO in his place, I don't see it happening. Theres no way in hell Bill is thinking: "I know he's had troubles, but I'll fix the kid." If he's thinking like that, I can't wait to see what TO says this year...lol. I think TO realizes the Cowboys aren't a GREAT team, so he's not going to bite his lip. So, I'm hoping TO doesn't change a DAMN thing, and remains to be the only reason other than the Pats and Peyton Manning to watch the NFL!!!

I'm just glad TO is back!!!
