even on Clubplanet, they feel a need to attack trance music.... youd think Clubplanet is made up of more n00bs and new kids to the scene too.... hrmmm... makes u think! ;) |
the post i quoted said 'music' not 'edm' -- if we're speaking of just dance music, then yes, europe and asia are certainly more receptive to it than the u.s. for a variety of reasons.
and as far as cp is concerned, the ny board is a joke and has been for some time; i'd even put njguido above the ny section of cp in terms of quality, so anything chortled out of that site i use to clean the bottom of my shoe off. |

| Eco i don't think the venue was the problem!!!!!ask some of the people that were there and they'll tell you that it wasn't that bad!!!!!I gotta let the people who organized the event explain what happened. They put a lot into it but they got screwed. I'll let them give you the details!!All i can say is that because picotto cancelled at crobar they saw it as an opportunity for more people to come to the party, but didn't happen cause everybody went to Love. |

well, i did mean EDM, but now that were at the topic of it, some of the countries ive been to, i can argue that they appreciate music for what it is more than we do... ill use Italy as my main talking point (and lets assume its the same in at least France, Italy, Belgium, and Germany).... when you look at whos popular in Italy, sure they have their pop scene, but theyre very traditional and loyal to the artists they love.... where else can you have Pavarotti sing at the Olympics? where else do over 50 and over 60 people sell more albums than American pop singers do (singers like Zucchero, Vasco Rossi, Al Bano, i can go on)... its not a "chew them up and spit them out" pop scene like we have here in America... kids over there dont hear a classical guitar solo, or opera, or classic Italian rock, and call it garbage, they realize it as part of their heritage and culture... maybe its the fact that our country doesnt really have its own identity, we dont have music thats distinctly American, we have white vocalists singing over hip hop instrumentals (obviously not white music but black music for the most part) or artsts like Shakira singing over god knows what... theres no music we have that we know is OURS and only OURS, so weve been brought up to like OUR musical tastes and hate on every1 else's.... thats just the way i look at it... |

well, i didnt really see any flyers or posters or anything outside of Trance Addict.... maybe its not the venue per se, but places like Crobar or Spirit or Avalon can afford to send people out handing flyers or posting up throughout the city, or advertising on Clubplanet, or sending out newsletters, thats all im sayin :) dont forget, clubs like these also work in collaboration with guestlists and large scale promotions... |

I agree with you on this statement if and only if you are talking about todays music. This countries music history is VERY rich. Unfortunately, talent taking a backseat to image coupled with the major labels, radio and MTV force feeding the masses whatever is "hot" has put a huge dent in that rich history. |
