It clearly is your opinion, I'v seen PVD 3 times and 1st time was killer but each subsequent time got progressively boring.
ON THE OTHER HAND....
First time seeing Sasha, wish I coulda seen him back in Twilo days but I'm not complaining, was a lot more impressed when he tag-teamed w/ Zabiela than solo but still a good set.
2nd time seeing Zabiela, good grief how is he not the world's most talented and busy dj while spinning in everyone's opinion astounds me. First when he looped his scratching w/ the EFX-1000 was sick, this was when he was solo. Then w/ Sasha he starts echoing his scratching and Sasha just sittin there hypin him up, as well he should, Zabiela was on fire.
When tag-teaming it was nice to hear a lotta accappella work like
The Dysfunktional Psychadelic Waltons - Payback Time (wish they played Jacques Lu Conte remix though).
Yea I recognized nothing though I'm familiar w/ some of the aforementioned songs posted, they both just worked so hard to really bring the roof down.
Only beef of the night was I got to Avalon 10:30-45 ish and didnt get in till a little past midnight. It was cold and wet, they need to do a better job of getting people in. All in all, an awesome night. And I even got 5 hrs of sleep, yaaaaay.
ps. How sick was the Ride remix/edit??? Very. |

YES ING AVALON made us wait in the ing rain for 2 hours long.
Sasha's Opening set was hard and driving but kinda bored me after a while. I am now despising his use of ableton.
ZABIELA however ING TORE IT UP!!!!!!!!!! Sick track after sick track and his mixing was nearly flawless as well as his use of effects
I was really looking foward to them tag team. They did play some down and dirty tracks. But their set kinda bored me after a while. All in all a good night cept for the ing coat check was 8 bucks WTF |

the good, the bad, and the ugly of avalon last night!
Reasons why I hate Avalon:
-cracked out asian washers with no regard to others around them
-big muscle head guys walking around with no shirts on
-guys in general thinking it's okay to do the penis dance with you, guys if a girl wants your penis on them, trust me you will know right away but those at avalon think that every girl is just dying to have them rub their penis against them :whip:
-rude drunk, ghb, cracked out girls pushing you around and treating you like air (that you're not there)
-Mark Tabbner as an opening "DJ" and i use the term loosely
-E.T. enough said, he just scares me
Reasons why i love Avalon (atleast last night)
-They gave me the opportunity to see Sasha and Zabs together :eyes:
-spending time with the "Darkside" crew and many other TA's
-their ing great sound system
i had so much fun last night. Zabs was definitely the set of the night and i really enjoyed their tag team set as well. Zabs is just crazy talented and he makes it all seem so effortless! he is just up there enjoying himself and making the crowd go crazy! and crazy it went. the sick bass lines that Zabs kept dropping last night just put me over the edge
i literally danced from the moment sasha went on around 12:30 until the final track was dropped at a little after 7 am. my legs and feet are killing me.
i had no problems getting in, i got there just before 10 pm met up with simon and randy, had mobreaks with me and right through the pre-paid line i went they took my credit card and up to the spider room the directed us, like a holding pin but so much better than standing in the cold rain. they let us in around 11 to the painful sounds of Mark Tabner. i mean i have said this before we have so much more talent on these boards than mark could ever hope for as trance/house dj. he literally dropped you got it bad by usher
:mad: i mean come on and then one train wreck into another until 12:30 and bam! curtain drops and on goes sasha. i lost everyone i was with and was pushed and then positioned myself front and center for most of the night. i knew i wouldn't be able to move anytime soon so i quickly made friends with those around me and had a great time with my new "friends"
i definitely dance differently to these sets than i normally do but i definitely danced all night. in fact i do believe that this 34 year old out danced all the rest of the TA's(majority of those in your early 20's) last night/this morning :tongue2
all in all a great night, pissed that sasha bolted right after the set and i couldn't get a pic or an autograph but james was very patient and gracious and took pics with us and signed stuff and answered questions. was a very passionate and charsmatic individual with such positive energy. makes me smile now just remembering the smile on his face the whole night.
so great to see everyone as i randomly ran into TA's everywhere. i just bounced a little b/c i couldn't nor did i want to leave the front. new TA's protoge (jesse ) so nice to meet you and the guys from colorado. and of course all the usual suspects from the darkside and then some from the boards. thanks chris for ballroom dancing with me during tabners trainwreck of a set, we must have looked like idiots but oh well. thanks to the tigo's for the after party, 2:30 pm was when i made it home. need a cat nap, peace

Waiting in line sucked ass! Damn it! I'm Woody, I don't wait in lines! Hehehe jk Dont I wish! :D
Anyhow, when I got there the PRESALE LINE was ridiculusly long stretchin all the way to HOLLYWOOD BLVD. This was a little bit before midnight! So I see the darkside crew and immediately cut line and stay with them. After 40 or so minutes of standing in the rain, we make it inside! woohoo!!! I do my round of SAY HELLO'S to the usual suspects, then stick to Carrie, Brandy and Bjorn for the rest of the night.
Sasha's intro was pretty sick! He first couple of songs were pretty hard, I can almost say they sounded a bit on the progressive trance side! Sasha then took us on a journey that began on planet earth and ended at Planet Sasha. I dunno what the Sasha was doing but he was doing some weird ass . And let me tell you, I was SOBER and it was en weird! :nervous: Unfortunately this is not the Sasha I grew up listening to, and I realize that Sasha is long gone, but he's just getting tooo toooooooo weird for me.
So Blondie finally makes it on stage! :D Oh man! MAD PROPS! He drove us back to Planet Earth while visiting a few Robots on the way. This guy is insane! When I grow up I wanna be like Blondie! Hehehe :D
Then the tag team started.... HOLY ! This was Planet Ecstasy! Anything and everything was possible. This is when it got really good. I wanted to leave at 2:30 or 3, but once the tag team began, I stayed til almost 5:30!!! :eyes:
I see a 3rd Laptop on Drew's picts... PLEASE TELL ME THE TAG TEAM GOT RECORDED!!!!!
Overall, it was an insane night, but for me PVD was way better. I did a lot more dancing at PVD and there was plenty of room to dance too. |
