One point no one has explained to me is how is PVD a pioneer?? He hasnt really pioneered any of his own sounding stuff. Although neither has sammy i guess!

Hey... at least dj Sammy he is not pretending to be any Semigod
with a godgiven mission to save the world
with his ''politics of dancing''.
He spins commercial music for radios.
The only difference bettween the 2
is that at least Dj Sammy Knows
that his music is commercial
while paul van dyk spins fluff
but he thinks he is the ''trance king''
and his fans think he is the no.1 dj.
cheese vs cheese....

TAs are arrogant pricks, who don't really seem to be answering the question, or getting involved in the arguement.

Both parties need to understand the paradigms the other is coming from.

Hey all im just wondering, ok maybe you think paul van dyk is better than dj sammy but who has sold more ? And how would you say that paul van dyk is better than dj sammy> in what ways? I dont think Paul van dyk has had a bigger "hit" than dj sammy boys of summer!?

"better"

it's a subjective term in this case.

You have to understand that we're member of the "underground" scene. It's pretty much part of our culture to loathe people who go "commercial". notice i used quotation marks.

The reasoning behind this is, that we see people who go too "mainstream" as selling out our music. If artists all went and appealed to the masses for the sake of money, the music would not be to our taste, and wouldn't be something we could still call "trance", or "house", etc.

WE're passionate about our music. So much so, that we no longer adhere to pop tastes. If your not really into any particular musical form, then u may as well go listen to MTV, and do what MTv and the charts tell you. But if you've really found something you love, u'll ignore that , and chase what you love instead. This is where there is a bond in TAs, the endless pursuit for the same passion.

There I tried my best.

Probably came accross as a jackass :p.

Paul van Dyk -> No.1
DJ Sammy -> No. 93

Come on folks, the talent and the positions speak for itself.....*yawwn* :o

I don't see how that analysis is any different to MTV chart lovers.

There are indeed some parallels which have a lot to commend it.
