See, the question is whether or not they're gonna pack the day slots with locals and have the big names play nightslots. Realistically, our GG is not going to be anything in comparison to the European GG, it's impossible. I'd say expect 5-7 big names and the rest will be locals, which actually doesnt sound too bad.
I'd die if they'd bring any of the following:
Sasha
Ferry Corsten
Sven Vath
Steve Lawler (*cough* contract *cough*)
SANDER OMGWTFBBQPIGGYBACKMYLOVER
Good locals:
Franco Fabi
King Louis
Marco G
Maus
Creator
Preach (quasi local :P)
MMMMMMMMMMMMM... Sander playing the from dawn to night... ahhhhhh DEATH FROM THE DECKS |
Does local mean aria to you?? |

i agree...but aria doesn't have all the best local djs...i have the feeling that people here only see aria...there a lot of other talent in montreal...what about Tone Depth, Stephane Grondin, Mark Anthony, Stephane Lippé, Mat Ste-Marie, Kal, Mateo Murphy, Sultan, Eddy Jasmin, Eloi Brunelle etc.. Aria is a great club whit huge talent, but please try to open your mind to other djs...they need your support too!!! |

okay dude listen
I would hardly call depth, anthony, sultan, MATEO, mat, local talent they give about as much to the scene as bloody Mc Donalds....Don't get me wrong, they play here often, but are no longer "residents" here.
period
and I"m sorry but Eddy Jasmin needs to be shot, the guy is e. And you can quote me on that...anyone that (and he's done this many more times than once) TURNS OFF THE MUSIC AND CLAPS HIS HANDS, LIKE HE'S DOING SOMEHTING RIGHT, FOR ALMOST A MINUTE is total e. PERIOD
The DJs you mentioned give nothing to the MTL scene compared to the DJ's that Markess mentioned.
NOTHING.
Danny Torrence is ninja too
EDIT :: and a big one, Nick Pilon should be in that list he gives to mtl big time! |

Mat Ste-Marie makes the europe promotional tour for Black & Blue in 2003, and he's now one of the most canadian dj in demand in Paris & London.
Stephane Lippé went in Europe 3 times already for tour.
Stephane Grondin is sign on the most prestigious house label and he's still one of the only resident that can fill a club alone.
Tone Depth is one of the most recognize producer from Canada around the world and same thing for Sultan.
Mateo Murphy is support by a lot of Uk djs, and his track appears on a global underground.
and all the others have realize a lot of think that people don,t know because they don't care...so go make your homeoworks there's more in Montreal than you think.
And by the way you're not in obligation to support those guys, if you don't like one of them, it's your right!!! I'm supporting every club, every after hours, and i'm trying to support as much djs as i can because i know there's a lot of talent here in Montreal. |

Dude you just proved me right
whats your deifinition of a resident/local?
I think you think its "Someone who is from Montreal but does nothing for THE LOCAL SCENE!"
I mean c'mon guy, every Dj mentioned in Markesses post is a RESIDENT here, meaning they play for montrealers, and lives for our city!
I give a flying fk how much every dj you metioned gives to the international scene, which is I think the BIG BONUS for you...
These guys you mention play in Mtl ONCE A ING MONTH if that someitmes less!! If you really wanna bring the Mtl sound to an event, why not bring the ones who truly reperesent that, and by that I mean live and breathe in MTL...not in Europe or the US, pure MTL heart is what its about...not people who play here occasionally
give me a ing break. |

Kal is resident (Central Station & Aria)
Grondin is a resident (Stereo & Red Lite)
Lippé is a resident(Circus & Parking)
Ste-Marie is a redident (Circus & at least 2 more gig per month her in mtl)
Eddy Jasmin is not a resident in a club right now...but he use to be resident at Central Station, Living, Sona Bar, Sona After Hour, Circus & Stereo. He played in a lot of event for 514. just to named a few...
Eloi Brunelle is resident at Stereo
Mark Anthony is resident at Red Lite
There's Mateo, Sultan and the two last name that doesn't play more than one time a month in Montreal. So they're playing the same quantity of gig as the djs named by Marcus....
so now go make your homeworks dude you need to learn....
and by the way, djs that make much for Montreal, it's also putting Montreal on the map by producing music or by djing all around the world!! |

Dude i need not make a rebuttal to this... my points have been made
I did homework 10 years ago when i was in high school.
Eddy sucked at Sona, I was there the night it OPENED, don't talk EVER to me about who deserves the spots at GG.
Circus is not an example of mtl life...name ONE person on this site that goes to that Drug Den. ONE...pure HH
Anyways I"m done...have some respect for the locals who are here and now in this city. Like Louis, Creator, MarcoG...peeps who seriously provide...
I said nothing about Kal, he has my full respect.
I have MASSIVE respect for Depth and Sultan...But when you have a huge event like GG, which you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about, you want the local talent to work it, as they will I"m sure.
PS I said NOTHING about Grondin, Lippe, Brunelle...they have my respect...
As should you for the serious montreal players.
And maus, mini..amazing Djs
which you left out.

The only thing you don't understand since the begining, it's that i'm not against the Aria resident, i have a lot of respect for dj's theres and i'm here regulary...so my point was to not forget the others, this is the only reason why i wrote down my first comment. I know Godskitchen more than you think, and i can tell you that there's a guy in my list who sign whit them, and i'm pretty sure we gonna see him this summer at Beach Club for Global Gathering. |

And my reasoning is simple...
The DJs that SHOULD play GG are the ones who exemplify Montreal...not the ones who use the city as simply a name and a "home".
GG should and will play local talent...not superfluous talent.
I meant no offense, but am rather "very passionate" about our True locals. |
