Sorry Caela but I agree with Nitzsche on this point. If you're too weak to handle the world then you should really take yourself out of it. There is no higher virtue then the well timed death, nothing more tragic then dieing too early, and nothing more sad then living too long. He has to be the judge on this one but if he thinks he can't hack it then I say go ahead and spare yourself the suffering. |

Quite the opposite actually. Nitzsche was a big lover of humanity. His stance on death was more so to prevent suffering then anything else. Why life a life of pain and suffering that contributes nothing to your own joy? There was nothing more distasteful to Nitzsche then allowing people to continue in suffering.... this theame carries on to his discussions regarding pity, the welfare state, morality, and religion. |
