Xone or DJM ??? (pg. 5)

I think the DJM-800 is a great mixer, it's just not for me. I prefer the feel/looks/features/build of the Xone:92 by a wide margin. I would rather use filters than digital effects, anyway.

Using an EFX-1000 with a Xone:92 is a little more involved than using it with the DJM-800 (ie: just pushing a button). However, the 1000 can be controlled by the Xone via MIDI, but only with a few of the knobs and the crossfader. So you can, for example, control the jog wheel with your crossfader.

There are several options in setting it up, a favorite seems to be return out to (any) channel in, so you can crossfade between the signal and the effected signal. Personally, I use the send/return, and use a channel upfader and the return upfader as a wet/dry. I have an EFX-500, not a 1000, by the way. But I rarely use it, and am considering selling it.

If you choose the DJM-800, DO NOT order it from www.djdeals.com , they are not authorized to sell Pioneer equipment. http://www.agiprodj.com is the way to go, for a (possibly) lower price, free ground shipping, and no tax. E-mail for a quote, though, don't just look at the listed price. I got a Xone:92 for $1400 there.

Umm. The 800 is NOT built better than the Xones. Period.

It's a great mixer, sure. But the Xone's are right up there with them.

Armin is using this mixer now
Tiesto has it required at his events now.

It is slowly taking over the DJ world. You have diehard Xone fans, that are UNOPEN to anythign different, and haven't actually played with the DJM-800. If you are going to use CDJ's or a laptop and anyknind of effects, this is the most logical choice. It souns better and givers you more for your money, and is built better.

Period.

it will more then likly be either a Rane 2016 or a DJM-800 rotary... though if its posible i would only like to use have the rotary kit because i do scratch A LOT in my break sets and im getting into turntablism as well....

whoa people. i wouldn't get too set on this djm800 rotary. first of all, it doesn't exist yet. second of all, just because Pioneer says they will release a rotary kit sometime in the future means nothing. Pioneer is notoriously scandalous. I've been waiting on the rotary kit for my Denon DN-X1500 to be released for well over a year now. It's generally well accepted that no such kit will ever be released now for the X-1500. I expect the same for the DJM-800. Don't take Pioneer's word for it.

Yes it does.
Ryan0751
Haha! Exactly, Pioneer is already shipping the rotary kit. Call agiprodj.com and order one if you don't believe it.

And Denon has stated over and over that they have NO plans for a DN-X1500 rotary kit, and NEVER will. Why would you still be waiting? Are you waiting for it to turn to gold too?

Where is the hate?
Ryan0751
No hate, it just doesn't make sense!

"Slowly taking over..." it just came out! Just because Tiesto gets one who cares? Clubs don't just throw out their mixers because a new one comes along. Hell most clubs here in Boston have mixers that have been in service for a good 10 years.

The 800 is a very nice mixer, yes. But it's presence doesn't take anything away from the other mixers in this price range.

And there's no way it's built better than a Xone 92. The DJM-1000 doesn't even feel as solid as my 92 (and yes, I've actually played with one).

I have seen more Xones broken in the last year than any other mixer out there. They are constantly having a problem if they are being moved around all the time. Just ask the guys at Coachella, what they did when their Xone 92 died.

Anyhow, like I said... People who are die hard Xone fans... Are not open to checking anything else out. How many of you have actually played on a DJM-800 for more than 8 hours?

The main reason for me do go with the DJM is because of the digital connections, this gives you about a 20% increase in detail from your music. As well as, if you record your mixes, you can record them digitally, which means the same signal that came from the cd is what is going on to your recording. You don't lose anything and there is a ZERO chance of any kind of noise or feedback.
Ryan0751
The digital in/out debate isn't really as much of a big deal as you think it is, especially considering that CD's are only 16 bit audio.

The DJM-800 is a 24 bit mixer, so the sound does need to get upconverted at some point.

Sure there isn't any "noise" or "feedback", but I don't exactly get any of that with my 92 either.

Like I said, they are both great mixers.

What have you seen broken on the Xones? My P&G rotary faders better last forever :)
