Xone or DJM ??? (pg. 6)

i've been on the phone with PSSL. i'm trying to decide between the two right now. about the digital ins/outs, their rep was telling me he put the cdj outs into the regular rca ins on the 800, just to give it color. he also said the 800 provided more warmth than the 92, and was secondly only to the v6. :conf:
i dunno which one to get?
i don't plan on using effects and all that zabiela garbage, but if the sound quality is comparable and i can get the 800 for $600 cheaper, it's a bit of a toss up... |

| I would go with the Xone, if you look hard enough you might be able to get one at the same price as the 800. |

i keep getting the same, "it's built with the same components as the djm 1000", and "the 92 doesn't sound that better, plus it's got all the cool effects of an efx-1000 built in, too". i'm still kind of hesitant though, if that much $ is going into other things besides components and sound quality, how much is left for just that on the 800?
i don't foresee using the other stuff, as well.
i also keep getting the, "pioneer's got all the market share now" justification, which is actually steering me away from the 800.
EDIT
really good thread from djforums on the subject:

I think you need to just try both somehow and really get a feel for them.

would be nice but NO ONE stocks the 92 rotary around here.
not even a regular 92 for that matter :( |

Hmm. That stinks. Same thing around here, nobody really has the Xone's in stock for demo.
The thing I like about the Xone is it's built like a tank, and is already a classic and will remain so. All the digital stuff can be added on with an external EFX box if you want.
Though I can say I was intrigued when the 800 came out... it's a tough one. Remember too that if you want rotary the Pio rotary kit is an added cost.

true. agi and pssl are both steering me toward the 800...we'll see though. it's tough to disregard their opinions since they sell these things for a living...but then again, that's also reason to take everything they say with a grain of salt. |

I can't see you being dissapointed by either. Ditch both and get a Urei 1620 :)

Out of curiousity, why do you, and so many others on this forum, need a mixer for your bedroom that's better than what I've seen in some clubs?
The best mixer I've seen in a club was a Xone 62.
You may say it's not a high end club, but it's still more high end than your bedroom :) |

Because we are obsessed? Seriously!
For me DJ'ing is a passion unlike any other that I've had in my life. To have the best equipment is for me not an option, it's a necessity.

I agree. I think sometimes salesmen are the worst at advice when it comes to deciding. It could be they make more profit on the djm 800. Sometimes I think salesmen sometimes just tell you whatyou want to hear so they can make the sale.
