I would say I'm quite driven... President for the electronic music society (my love), head of marketing for the largest society in my uni - the young entrepreneurs' society - and have an interview regarding an internship tomorrow which ive prepared hardcore for the past week although I shouldnt be too worried about it since I have already gotten another internship. Life is good.
I truly believe that if you set your mind on doing something you'll always achieve it and I think laziness and the fear of failure are the main reasons why people don't succeed in life. |

i work about 50-60 hours a week, go to school.. that's about it. it sucks. i have 0 free time to do anything that i like, other than drink and play poker on the weekends.
once i get my associate's i'm probably moving and concentrating on the things i really enjoy. |

as for being lazy or a workaholic... i'm a bit of both. sometimes (like today) i spend the entire day slacking off and posting on TA, whereas other days i'll just throw on some music and zone out and get a load of work done. i like that i can work at my own pace and be able to get done when it needs to be done, and still have time to around on the internet.
i'm definitely not one of those people who is insanely driven and overbearingly serious about their job... i mean i love my job and i take a lot of pride in being a talented artist and an overall good employee, but i also like to stick it to the man by talking about tacos and wet dreams on TA. |
i'm pretty much the same...depends on my mood. but then again, i'm not really in my career yet since i was a late bloomer with going to college. so right now, this is just one of those jobs to pay the bills so i can get done with school. it's a slow process for me since i have to work full time, but oh well. i have my days at my job where i just come in and get a load of filing done and other things...but for the most part, i like to slack off on the net. i'm not really that swamped here at this job and my boss is really cool and they don't monitor my internet use or any of that. it's really slack here. i think if it wasn't so slack and the net was monitored and i was at some huge professional firm, i'd probably be more focused.
i'm curious to see how i'll be in the advertising industry once i'm done. i can see myself working very late on a huge project that i'm completely engulfed in, but i think it will be sporatic since i'm moody. i'm a little nervous though since that industry is very demanding and competitive...i don't really have a competitive bone in my body. hopefully my work will speak for itself and will advance me as opposed to being this ball busting, fight my way to the top, sleep my way to the top, aggressive biatch. i just don't have it in me. i'm too nice. i'd be like, "oh u got the promotion? that's awesome! let's go get cocktails and celebrate!"

| The generation of our grandparents (40's - 50's), Uncle Sam would say 'jump' and they'd say 'how high?'. Our parents generation (60's - 70's) rejected that and 'dropped out' from society (hippies, etc). Our generation is jaded and naive from all we have seen in the 80's, 90's and 2000's so far. Things don't seem real a lot to me. Our people have two ways of dealing with this: (1) The workaholic approach, where people surround themselves with expensive things to quell the feeling of emptiness. (2) The 'I-no-give-the-fawk' approach, where I happen to fall in. You get here either by choice, by not being able to conform to the workaholic lifestyle or as in my case, not being able to do well in school. I find myself extremely unmotivated and pushed further to living on a 'day-by-day' basis. However, true to the name, I really have stopped caring and stopped comparing myself to others who have tasted success. Though I bet it tastes sweet, I am further convienced with each passing day that is not the path I am meant for. |
