Well, the complainers who left early are well - complaining, and that was the first round of reviews I saw.
Now, I guess the people who stuck it out and liked it are finnaly posting reviews now that they have recovered, as I've read quite a few good ones :)
I loved the old boa, and the old space. And by the sounds of it - Sonic is even better than that now, cant wait to check it out for C&C and making this my 2nd home for the upcomming summer months if they continue to bring in DJs I want to see. |

In the front, it wasn't too bad but if you walked straight back through the crowd, it was shirtless mafia night. :p Hence, thinking RJ was a smart wabbit for taking us up front via the sidebar.
Carwash or no carwash, it's tunes! How many dudes out there would go ape if they saw a chick dancing in her bra at a club? It's not like the guys are grinding up against you on purpose to slather you in sweat. Just give a polite tap on the shoulder and you can get by easily.
I don't think this is homophobic issue - there are straight guys aplenty who wander shirtless. But being doused in sweat by an accidentally stumbly person I don't know - makes it feel like the sweat is an alien lifeform gluing itself to my body. Friendly sweat is so much less invasive because we know where that sweat has been, you dig? |

Steve I admire your ardent attack on the constantly irritable Toronto club goers.
(However Steve, have you really never ever voiced a complaint or been frustrated with a club in Toronto?) |

| Wow, been really interesting reading this review thread. I think a lot of people that went and had something to complain about may not know what an afterhours place is really like. I dunno. I'm sorry I couldn't have made it out, but anyone who is expecting perfection on opening night may be pushing it a little. I can't wait 'till C&C. Will there be enough tix at the door? |

As most people know, I was very, very excited about this party for a long time. Clubbing has just not been the same to me since Carey left Boa. I think things are about to pick up again.
The night started off with a very annoying 2.5 hour wait in line. The line was pandemonium. There was one time when the crowd started chanting/screaming "BULL! BULL!". Everyone was very upset. Looking back on things now, it was stupid of me to neglect to buy a ticket considering it was the opening night. If I had bought one, I don't think I would have waited as long as I did.
There was some bribery of the bouncers and some shady selling of "VIP tickets" by bouncers outside of the club. It will be interesting to see if this continues.
Upon finally entering the club, I was dissapointed to see yet another line waiting for me - the line to get searched. This is the one things about the club that must be changed ASAP. There was a big huddle of people waiting to get searched on the platform and on the stairs. Given how upset people were about the line outside, there was yelling and even some pushing and shoving. If someone fell, it would have created quite the nasty domino effect. It's a wonder nothing happened.
I entered the club at 3.30am and was pleasently surprised to see that it wasn't shoulder-to-shoulder packed like I thought it would be. I was annoyed by the line, but when I looked around me and saw smiles on everyone's faces, I quickly forgot the whole ordeal.
Frankie was good, but not as good as I was expecting him to be. He played some good tunes, but I would say that I only enjoyed about 1/3 of the songs I heard him play.
Once David hit the decks, it only took the build-up of his first song to kick the party into high gear. After the first track, I knew it would be a night to remember.
David played completely different than I expected him to play. I thought he was going to play lots of diva "lullaby" house, but how wrong I was. His first 2 hours were hard and banging and tribal tunes. My favourite part of his set was (I think) around 10.30-11.30am when he started playing what I like to call scary/bojangled tunes :D. I've been searching for this one song that he played that I know is burried somewhere in my database of music.
From about 11.30am-12.30pm, he played the slower, dreamy diva house that I expected him to play all night. At this point in the morning, it was actually nice to hear that. I spent that time sitting down and chatting, enjoying the more relaxing tunes (harder tunes would have been better though. :disbelief ).
It was nice to hear Danny Tenaglia - D'Ibiza a few times, and that one song that keeps repeating "yes he is!". It almost sounds like a Gospel song. Can anyone ID it for me? Morales played it twice and Nevio played it once after Morales played.
I now know why so many people think highly of this DJ. That was an AMAZING set.
The crowd was awesome. Gays, straights, shirt, or no shirt - EVERYONE was having a great time.
Thank you to everyone responsible to this club. It is great to be home. :D
I can see myself spending the majority of my club nights at this club. |

- TiL is too pretentious and stuck up
- Guv has too many sketched out asians and is too packed all the time
- Fly has way too many Gay guys
- Lot 332 and Mink are too poshy and mainstream
- CoZo is too scary and sketchy
- Money, Republik and any other clubs that don't play your style of music are no good to you
I always here people saying "why can't we have clubs like Ibiza, Miami, New York, Montreal...."
