I'm scared!! Anyone had their tonsils out before?

I am getting my tonsils out tomorrow morning...and I am scared... a little.
OK, So I didn't think I would be scared... I have been under anesthetic before... so that is not what I am scared of...
It's gonna suck not being able to eat. My throat is gonna hurt so bad. I am really not looking forward to it at all.
And the most important question...am I going to be well enough to go to C and C?

Did anybody else get thir tonsils out as an adult..?
What food should I stock up on? And how long did it hurt for?

Doesn't help that my boss just came into my office and asked me if I am ready to go under the knife!! Well.. it's done by laser now...

My sister had it done and they put you out for it. When you wake up, your throat will be sore as all hell - stock ice cream and soup and juice.
In a few days, you'll be back to normal.

had it done when i was a kid,
didn't go under, they did it live without any pain killers so feel lucky if you do go under.
just grabbed me on the seat stuck scissors down my throat and next thing I knew, there were my tonsils swimming in a jar. |

im getting 4 wisdom teeth taken out next friday

| I had my tonsils out when I was little. It's fine. I remember eating lots of popsicles in the hospital, which made me happy! |

lindz i got mine taken out last summer.....yes it hurts and the pain only lasted 3 or 4 days for me...I stocked up on ice cream and JELLO!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaay

Had mine taken out when I was like 8.
You don't even have to stay overnight.
Ice cream and jello for 2 days and you're back to normal.
It's a very common procedure now. |

My experience with wisdom teeth is lots of movies for rent... lots of tylenol 3 to get you dopey... and the world is a happy place..

They didnt do anything for me. I had to take additional advil with them to get any kind of pain relief! Ive never experience such unquenchable, constant, pulsing body chilling pain in my life. pain in that region is impossible to distract urself from and things like quenching ur fists do not help abate it in any measure (unlike when if you badly rip open your leg or something, I find clenching teeth (not possible in this case) or making tight fists can help steel you against the torrent of pain.

I hated this expereince.

I got Oxycocet (oxy family of drugs) after my wisdom teeth, and it was the best week off of work evar! |

omg +1!!!!
and i was like 8 or 9 and the nurse was so evil to me, when I started crying she said if I don't shut up they will remove something else :nervous: :nervous:
but i do think that wisdom teeth are worse!

Well, if wisdom teeth weren't bad for me, then this must be a piece of cake!!
I think the doctor ws just scaring me about being an adult and the scar tissue etc...

Maybe I will just be in bed on TA all day this week.. ha ha :rolleyes: |
