I'm interested to hear both points of views on this, from someone besides the nutz0's on CNN. They always are so liberal imo.
It personally drives me nuts that people think they deserve things, when they don't.
Plus singing the national anthem in the language it is written is a no brainer. I think that singing it in Spanish is ludicrous. Honestly... there is no other country that sings their anthem in another language. The mayor of LA is just saying this for political plug for himself.
ex: "Nuestro Himno" — "Our Anthem" — the Spanish version rewrites some of the English version. For instance, the second stanza says, "My people keep fighting. It's time to break the chains." - :wtf: Don't remember that line in the anthem... I think it is a little sketchy...
"I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English," -Bush
Agreed. However, I think perhaps there are not adequete opportunities to learn english? Maybe? not sure... :conf: |

Without illegal immigrants the lawns in Beverly Hills would look disgusting, and no one over there would ever do any laundry.
Just think about that for a minute. |

Always find a way to use a protest as a benefit. Like i was telling somebody this weekend. Get in back of a pick-up and yell "Down with Whitey!' or something similar.. then slowly start turning up the volume. Music is contagious. Soon everybody will forget why they are there, then the protest will look like this!

Orb for mod! He brings good ideas...(and he'll ban Bas for life!) :p |

Tax evasion.
Illegal immigrants are estimated to hold around 4.9% of the jobs in the labor force, according to Pew Hispanic Center in Washington, D.C.
Quite a big tax gap imo. There is not much justice in giving those who do not legally contribute, benefits of citizenship. |

Is that a joke? Of course they dont pay taxes if they're illegal. Give them amnesty, citizenship, and then they WILL have to pay taxes, and then WE'LL have more money. |

Yeah. The problem (as i understand it atleast), is that you are legalizing them in the US, but not as citizens. |

FYI... when an illegal immigrant gets a check, taxes are taken out just like they would for anyone else. What's not happening is refunds. Because most are using fake socials, the government is pocketing their refunds. What they don't know is that they can actually go to the IRS and apply for a Tax Pay Identifacation Number to file taxes properly. |

The word CITIZENSHIP is what's confusing and outraging a lot of people. Instead of citizenship, they should grant more visas. That way if someone becomes a trouble maker the US can deport them. I am 100% for deporting and revoking visas to troublemakers. I think VISAS are a better solution than citizenship. |

giving citizenship away to migrants that don't respect the due process of our law is a slap in the face to everyone who went through the right channels to get into this country. it also sends a very bad message to people on the other side of the border... bottom line is everyone but american taxpayer benefits from the current arrangement, the politicians, the business owners and the illegals are all winners.
ps: cable news rots your brain. |

But can they pay taxes, and have no citizenship? How do they get fake socials? (just make up a number :conf:
btw: I apologize if I come across uneducated on the issue, because most news sources, don't always give an 'unbiased' view.
Another problem I see with the amnesty (perhaps unjustified), that if Bush grants amnesty to those already in, I don't think that will discourage illegal immigration. In fact I believe that would encourage those to continue to come in, illegally.
Perhaps in time, many desirable jobs will be taken?
I spent two years in Sweden, which has very open immigration laws, and basically accepts anyone, and they can come in legally. However, many complain that job market is poor, and that there is too many immigrants that are benefiting off the socialist system.
I think that by immigrating legally. It allows the US to better controll the numbers of people inside the US, to better not only economy, but ensure quality of life. |

Yes. I agree also, but I think that if they riot for Visa's... I see it snowballing into rioting for citizenship.
I wish that the US would take a very firm approach to this issue one way or the other. |
