I will openly admit that I like Kyau v. Albert's remix of Tracking Treasure Down, and if played in a club, I would dance my skinny white ass off.

eleven and sydney are still better tracks than anything any of you guys could produce...

I'm really concerned that my response to this will be taken out of context and used as fodder for a flame war that will no doubt ensue in this thread, BUT, I'm wondering what you mean by "another level," and what in fact did you "get?"

I'm sorry man, but I just fail to see any innovation in their new artist album. The tracks that don't blatantly sound like Josh & Dave are trying to cash in on the "in" sound right now, sound like pop rubbish to me.

Is there something I'm missing here?

There is nothing pop about tracks like "Eleven".

I compare them to artsits like Royksopp or Goldfrap. That is NOT pop rubish.

If you stop thinking of them as "trance producers" and start thinking of them as artists you will "get it".

You see, it's arguments like this that only contribute to the utter lack of intelligent discourse on music here on TA.

Eleven and Sydney ARE in fact better tracks than I could produce, because I don't produce. That doesn't change the fact that as a long time fan of both EDM and G&D that I find them both lacking to an incredible degree. There's no need to restate my criticisms of either as they're well documented here and in the NR forum, but honestly, saying that because someone doesn't produce, they shouldn't criticize, seems to me to be a very flawed viewpoint.

Beyond that, I'm quite sure many of the producers who browse TA and don't care for the G&D Artist Album would take issue with your statement.

You're right, but that's not indicative of the entire album. I think Eleven does sound like some of the remixes of Goldfrapp or Royksopp tracks out there, and that's the problem. It doesn't do the sound or style justice, and genuinely feels like it's trying very hard to be just like those tracks.

I've never thought of them as Trance producers, and likely never will. Plain and simple, I think this album, as a whole, appeals very much to the "pop" side of EDM, and doesn't do a thing I would call "innovative." True, they may be artists, unfortunately this is just one of their works that I think isn't really all that well done.

Not a good rapper in your eyes (or mine), but obviously he's doing something right for everyone to love him. With that, I have to give his skills some respect.

My issue is that people will sit here and hate on tracks like TTD then hear it in a club and go nuts to it...as in, a bunch of hypocrits here.

I too have been critical of them in the past, but have realized that these guys are just artists on another level than most people. It took me awile to "get it", but now I do....and I see the brilliance in what they are doing. Dont hate....because eventually you will "get it" too and learn to appreciate .

to say it like Matthew Perry would have said it in Friends: "Can u BE any more clueless than this?"

Imo, a number of their remixes are pretty good, although judging by the feedback on this topic I'm gonna regret saying this :nervous:
