have they even done anything really good since their remix of Mindcircus? well carrera 2 remix wasnt too shabby either and that unreleased Motorcycletune was pretty ok. but apart from that I havent been impressed by anything else they've done during the last 3 years.
so this doesnt come as a shock. they doesnt use their talent to the full extent.
oh yeah they are extremly overrated as DJs too. so sleepy sets that you simetimes wonder if they are playing in the sleep. |

Well, happens with the best of them.
People don't grasp the concept that not every piece is going to be a master piece. Hell, other than a few producers/artists in all genres of music HISTORY, most of the tracks any big producers makes are a waste. Thing is, in the EDM world if every track isn't a masterpiece, the producer is garbage/lost it/ etc. Well, with a lot of people on TA at least.
Remember in latish 2004 this whole debate with G&D was happening then, too. Then they came out with Arcadia, Portobello, Tidal (under Bigtop w/ Bassbin Twins), produced Zocalo with Armin, and Without You Near with Markus, remixed Till There Was You and Swing to Harmony. Suddenly there was the talk of "G&D's sound is evolving. This is great to see!" A lot of enthusiasm. Now, less than a year later, G&D suddenly suck again. Whatever they make is garbage, etc etc.
I just think people expect way too much out of the well-known producers. And I think it's unfair for them. Sure, a lot of producers start going downhill and never make a oomeback, but plenty of others do. People just need to be patient, me thinks.
And I also just think people seriously miss the productions of yesteryear. We all still yearn for that rush the music back in the late 90s, 2000, 2001 gave us. It's why most people are very hard on the producers that are still big today that made just amazing tunes back then. With G&D, they brought a whole new sound to the table when they got big in 2002/early 2003 (think Essential Mix). It was just stellar. Today, people just aren't getting that same big rush from them (and most othe producers from that era) and they are letting it be known. Does it mean G&D have gone downhill? Not necessarily...just think that we all want new creative tracks with that style and rush that we were hearing back then but aren't getting it...from anyone, really. Maybe there's just nothing more to be made without sounding like everything else. But we don't want to hear that. We want that rush.
In the end, I don't think all this expressed hate, anger, etc is directed specifically at G&D when you get down to it...but rather the whole scene altogether. It's just easier to attack individual artists out there sometimes. In this case, it's G&D. There's been tons of other threads attacking other artists who were making amazing tracks in the last several years but just aren't delivering what they want to hear today.
We want that RUSH we had back then, but we are going to have to wait. When that rush will happen and who will bring it remains to be seen. Maybe it'll be G&D, maybe it'll be some other major producer out there right now...or maybe it'll be someone completely new. |

Totally agree! Its so so so easy to hate, infact your just showing yourself up and anyone with half a brain cell can see that.

honestly none of the ones you mentioned are that good except for beautiful things. that one was above averge. but still got tiresome after a while.
the rest you mentioned including zocalo are bland. arcadia is pure crap.
havent heard the big top tunes though.
the remixes you mentioned are nothing compared to the ones they made 3 years ago. swing to harmony original is so much better than G&D remix. |
