anyway does anybody have a review of how the DJ's were?? |
We got there a little before 1, so I can't comment on how it was before.
Troy Pierce tore up and Magda was pretty good. Marc Houle was also good, though he didn't compare with the others.. Personally, i enjoyed Troy the most of the evening. |

Caught like 20-30 minutes, so not enough to comment. Talked to dcctnyprincess by phone (she has no internet since the move) and she said he was really good and played more clubby than at DEMF.
BTW, he played in one minimal spotlight from what I remember. Barosoap really liked the lighting during Troy Pierce's set and thought it was "like a concert" with a few rows of different colored lights above the DJ and that was it. |

Too bad what happened over at Spirit. Same happened with someone we know at Crobar last nite. Guy get punched on the side of the face from nowhere. in bunch of Lee Hottis all over. I mean this was literally, THE WORST IN CROWD I HAVE EVER SEEN. I would rather have musically clueless ppl holding martinis in their hands from the corporate world than seeing those 18yr old morons at Crobar last nite. At least the older guidos knew how to act in public(well somewhat better anyways). Then u see DT walk in with Hawtin during his opening set. Then hes liek stay tuned, me and Hawtin will be playing together real soon. :wtf: :conf:  |

Ha! I as at Corbar for DT too. That was the absolute WORST Crobar crowd EVER! And that's saying a lot. I've seen some bad crowds, but that was just horrible. Obviously, it was because of proms, but still... I actually left about 20 minutes after Tenaglia went on because I couldn't take it any more. |

i only got to see some of marc houle, magda and hawtin
my flight to nyc was CANCELLED and american airlines put me on a saturday MORNING flight and i told the agent "i gotta get to nyc TONIGHT" so, she finally finds a seat on on an american flight to newark (not laguardia as originally planned) that was supposed to leave at 5:20, but we ended up leaving around 8:00 or so - so really 9 pm eastern time. land at newark at 11 pm, wait for bags and taxi and finally get to my apartment at 12:30 pm. grab a shower (bathroom is totally flooded - no shower curtain!!!!) and get to the club around 1:30 or so....start looking for ryan and christina and luckily found them. it looked like i just missed troy pierce (boo hoo) and houle was going on, but didn't pay much attention as i was just relieved to get to the nyc and the club. and after spending the day with the movers making sure that i would catch my flight to nyc i was just ready to dance and let off some steam.
didn't pay much attention to houle's set as i was chatting with ryan and christina, but per usual, magda was on point. after seeing her 4 times in the last week i would definitely say that at times she was the star of the tour, she knows how to get the dancefloor going and warms up the crowd very nicely for richie. would love to see her do her own thing sometime.
hawtin comes on and he starts out slow (as usual), but built his set so that around 4 or so the place was hopping. there was a 20-40 minute part of his set which i thought was just a plain mind - he had so much going on with the laptops etc. and you could see that he was working it up there - it wasn't very danceable, but very good. then he turned it up a notch and basically had me dancing most of the night - my legs were aching and was about ready to leave around 5 pm, but i thought i had to stay cuz who knows when i'll see richie again...and he ended his set with a great version of baby kate (my fav tune atm) that sounded great on that system. i could barely walk out to grab a taxi - i think i jumped in the taxi around 6:20 or so.
out of three times i saw hawtin this past week - this gig was definitely his best IMO. of course, i don't remember a lot about the detroit party, but this one was so much more enjoyable because i was sober most of the night and could hear all of the loops, samples, effects etc. that he was throwing in here and there. i think i like richie better when i'm sober...hahaha
the crowd at spirit sort of sucks IMO - won't go there unless there is a dj that i really have to see and that list would probably only include magda and hawtin right now. maybe beyer or liebing but that's about it. the crack steps in the back :wtf: |

I must admit, there were a lot of good looking girls there. All different styles too... which is always nice. I love emo/rock/scene styled girls and love it even more when I see that type out at clubs. |
