Oh, Yan
You know, there's nothing sexier than gently sliding your left thumb clockwise, and then firmly pressing the controller with your right thumb... finally, after such sensual moves, you look at that bright fluid of energy appearing on the screen, and, in a final whisper, you hear that manly voice say....
... Hadouken! :D |
'Tis saddening that this wasnt for me, but I still wanna say that I lolled for a good minute on this. :stongue: |

Lame.
It was so obvious Sony would steal Nintendo's controller idea's after they bad press they recieved from the boomerang controller; and all the good things people were saying about Nintendo's new controller. Guess they had to live up to their reputation though.

Wii-mote > PS3 controller |
The idea of a motion sensing device wasn't Nintendo's, per se, but we can see how Sony was threatened by the approach the big N was taking. Seems more like a desperation move with the re-done DualShock design.
Then again, it's definitely better for those gamers that find the Wii-mote too drastic of a change for gaming. PS3 gamers can still use familiar controls (after all, they've been holding this thing since 1995, no? :p) while enjoying some aspect of a motion detecting device. |

If the Dual Shock design wasn't the most compatible controller with my hands I'd say what a dumb move. Fortunately it is :gsmile:
DUALSHOCK FO LIFE!
I remember getting the first gen the week it came out :gsmile: |

Hang on tight, my friend. Initial impressions show that the controller is so light that it might start floating around the room if you don't have a firm grasp. :p |

It was and it wasn't. Of course motion-sensing in video games isn't their idea; but the fact that they decided to take such a bold step in incorporating motion/tilt-sensing into video gaming was theirs. They've been talking about changing the way we play video games for a long time, before the controller was even shown off, before any company even thought of incorporating the technology like this.
The PS3 controller, on the other hand, is basically the wii-mote with the shell from the looks of it; but lacks any sort of motion sensors. Once the Wii comes out; the way video games are played will drastically changed. Being limited by 2 thumbsticks will be a thing of the past (or in Microsoft's and Sony's case: "the next generation of gaming") |
