| It's crazy to me that so many of you have changed musical tastes as drastically as it appears some of you may have. A lot of the same artists that were musical staples for me back in the day are still on heavy rotation now... |

| I've also been big into rap since about 1992. Ain't Nothin' But a G Thang did it for me. That's never changed :) |

The first CD that I ever bought was the soundtrack to the movie "Friday."

do you like sonic youth?
Cause I have been listening to the new advanced copy of Sonic youth's and the lyrics are kinda silly in a funny humorous way. Somehow it's been making me think of you I have no idea why :haha: |
i'm not sure that i've ever heard anything by Sonic Youth... the name sounds familiar though, and if it makes you think of me then i should probably check them out, haha.
i always hated Blink 182...
my favorite "emo" or semi-emo bands were probably Dashboard Confessional (saw them live twice and they were amazing), Further Seems Forever, Death Cab For Cutie, Finch, Hoobastank (yes i know... but i liked them way back before they got all popular, i saw them open for Incubus years ago), Jimmy Eat World, Something Corporate, Weezer, Yellowcard (again, this was before they got all popular on MTV), etc... probably some more that i'm forgetting too.
i know some of those aren't really classified as "emo" but they all fit in to that general emo/punk/indie category...
i also listened to a lot of other music that was emotional but not really considered emo... stuff like Elliot Smith, The Cure, etc.
i mean, if you look through my CD collection, you'll see like that mixed in with stuff like 311, Sublime, Incubus... Pink Floyd, The Doors... Method Man, DMX, Tribe Called Quest, Common... Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, etc... i've always liked music from many genres, i never limited myself to listening to only one style of music. |

The album of my teens:
Velour 100 - Of color bright.
I still listen to it occasionaly but it often reminds me of one of my ex's I was with on and off for a total of about 3 years. Damn I loved that girl so much :( saraaaaaaahhhhh
Velour 100 - Sky From Underwater
FALLEN THROUGH
MOTION SLOW
THE SKY'S UP THERE
THE SKY'S UP THERE
HOLD MY BREATH
PEACEFUL HERE
THE SKY'S UP THERE
THE SKY'S UP THERE
CHORUS:
WATER
ALL AROUND ME
HOLDING
SILENCE
STILL SURROUNDING
FLOATING
WAVES BEND THE LIGHT IN CIRCLES
HERE BENEATH THE AIR
FEELS LIKE FLYING DOWN HERE
NEVER WANT TO LEAVE
CAME FROM WATER
INTO THE WIND OF THIS WORLD
BRIGHT SHINY PLACE
BRIGHT SHINY PLACE
ALL DAY LISTENING
I FEEL SO FAR FROM WHERE I
CLOSED MY EYES
SAFE SILENT TIDE
CHORUS
WATER HOLDING
SILENCE SURROUNDING
THE SKY'S UP THERE
what an emo song. |
