Been a while since i've posted, hello all.
Time for a bit of debate....
What's your favorite after hours club in Montreal and why?
I think Aria has risen in alot of people's books. Looking at the names they are bringing....Corsten, Van Buuren, Kleinenberg...
way to build that Dutch connection!!! I haven't been yet but will soon. If there is room to breathe and the decor is good then it just might be #1 in my books...Thank god Aria has stepped up their gig listing!
Sona used to be #1 for me and my GF but that has changed since they don't enforce maximum capacity laws.. Case in point, last time Tiesto came i had a good mind to call the firemarshall to get the club on their toes so that they would never overpack like that again....Sona lost it for me there and. Overpacking a club takes away a alot of enjoyment that great music just can't replace... Not to mention that if a fire broke out ... I remember when Oaky came. It was sold out and they were turning people away at the doors and there was way more room to sit and dance inside than at Tiesto (none at all for Tiesto, upstairs or downstairs)...What has changed? Ownership. 514 is great for the big parties but i don't like the way they run Sona...The new Sona location will be interesting to follow. Increased capacity is on their list of priorities ...i hope! Because they do bring in the best talent...(overbidding for DJs = overpacking the club maybe? a theory...)
Last but not least - Stereo. Best sound system ...Problem would be with the rep that it is a gay dominant environment which scares alot of people away. Not to mention the only world class DJs they bring in are those that play house... |

sona = the home of true ravers and clubbers along with XL and lafleche
aria = the home of crazy lights, better sound, better environment, cleaner environment, better djs and the official home of trance in montreal |

haha I personally find that XL sucks major ass!
I left Cream 2001 right before he came on just because of him. And that's because I'll never forget how ty his Celebration 2000 set was...I didn't want to go home but his music was oppresing my senses and i was left with no other choice!!!!! :whip: |

I couldn't agree more with you on that. SONA didn't impress me much on that night. Tiesto did nonetheless. I will give SONA a chance to redeem itself, perhaps when Carl Cox is in town.
As for ARIA, it was great while Corsten was there. Tons of room to move and walk. Nice DJ setup, great light show (floor and in the air). So far, nothing but great experiences at ARIA.
I've never been to Stereo

I was at Sona once, damn!! left after 3 hours because of a major headach. Cause: pot smoke and lack of ventilation!!!!!
Don't even remember who was playing...
Aria is by far the best...
Must do: visit Stereo

Sona : went there two times , the first time for PvD which was an awesome experience , and the second time for Tiesto which was of course the biggest deception ever (i don't even wanna put my feet there again ... it was stinky ,packed , dirty , the sound was too loud , etc ...)
Aria : the best club/after i've been to in my life , cool vibe (except for those wanna be thugs gangster rap mofos standing next to you on the line up) wicked lights et surtout the excellent sound system (my ears never ring when i leave the club)
Stereo : never been there because it's mostly house (i don't think they will ever book a trance dj) and because people say it's a gay club |

Do they play trance in both Clubs?????
YES so i will go to both.
It is true that when i came to montreal i went to SONA twice a week, since i considere it as my home.
My first visit to ARIA was late september but still don't consider it as my home. I hope it will be soon.
I am a SDF = sans domicile fixe. cause i have places to stay.
