"Classics of "our time?"
View this Thread in Original format

So I was in the forums of ASOT 250 while listening to it the other day and during the classics hour armin played casamera (sp?). There were a few people who thought that this song should not be consiered a classic yet (i was one of them). So I was just wondering what you guys would consider in 10 years the classics of the past couple of years?

(stick to trance and prog trance)

good thread, I had the same idea, strange..

I think whiteroom - whiteroom can be considered as a classic, or not?

and as the rush comes, everyone should agree on this.

Love Theme Dusk ? :gsmile:

G&D - Arcadia ...maybe?

neither whiteroom or castamera can be classified as a classic IMO. they are too generic both of them.

a classic is a tune which IMO should sound more or less groundbreaking. of course its highly subjective but still a majority of people cant deny that Age of Love - Age of love is a classic today. Simply because it took trance to the next level.

a classic of today? i wouldn't know. there are simply not many tunes which are groundbreaking enough to be remembered in 10 years.

tilt - the world doesn't know, who would agree on this?

Castamara i agree is nowhere near classic status. The White Room there is room for debate imo. Dunno how you can say it was "generic". I suggest you take a look at the meaning of the word before you band it about to a track as good as The White Room was

I know what it means. and it was highly generic. taking an old BT song and reversing the vocals is not groundbreaking.
Demoted
James Holden - A Break In The Clouds
Jonas Steur - Silent Waves

that's all that pops into my mind immediately.

released in 2003: holden & thompson - nothing (93 returning mix) - this one is already now a classic.

Yes I would agree on this one.

I know this is a bit premature since they were released this year and last year, but that is the question at hand so I suggest:

Allure - The Love We Lost
Airbase - Escape
L.S.G. - Netherworld 2005 (Oliver Prime Remix)
Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony
