Welcome.
Where in Jersey are you?

It's very difficult to meet people at the big DJ events. It's easier to be social at smaller venues. Do try and go to something at Sullivan Room, Canal Room, Cielo, Bed.

Best of all, try to make it out to Love on a Friday night. You'll most definately meet a bunch of people with true love for the music:

Also try to come out to a TFST or Loft Part next time. I think Tek is planning a TFST BBQ around July 4th.

Any time I'm in NYC I do my best to meet up with fellow TA's. As a few people here know, my favorite spot to meet is at Brite, which is a small bar/loungy place at the corner between Spirit and Crobar. Nice central location for those 2 venues and I love their drink selection. They also have very friendy staff and enough couches and chairs to sit and relax on while chatting it up with friends. :)

yeah the local events in smaller venues are great places to meet ppl

then again I met a LOT of heads at the ROXY during large events and that was a HUGE place...and it was two years before I started going to lounges...I find that most ppl/TAs just welcome you with open arms as long as you are friendly. I wouldn't worry about it, even at a big event, all you need to do is recognize some of us (through pictures and stuff) so you can come up to us and say hi -- thats what I did for the most part :D we dont' bite. eheh.

if ur going to Armin at Tobacco Warehouse, you'll def see a LOT of us there. heehhe

oh am gon be at the tobacco warehouse for sure.....its definitely awesome up here knowing that sooner or later some nice gig is gon come along..i mean you don't have to wait for an entire year or so like i did when i was in texas for some of the top djs to come and spin a set...but see you tend to have to alot more fun at a show when you're a bunch of people going together which i could do there but there just weren't enough shows!!...now after moving here, there's just so much variety and so many shows lined up but not enough people to go with...AS YET;) ...before the summer is over, i plan on definitely changing that...:) ...and i'll holler if recognize any NYTAs..maybe get some wisdom on how things work up here...

Do you only listen to mainstream trance? I mean, it's fine if you do (your loss :p), but it'd help to know what types of EDM you listen to before making suggestions.

Could also be that this person just doesn't know what genres of EDM to listen to. It might have to be a trial and error phase. You'll find a wide variety of parties here in NYC, house dominating most venues for that matter (also happen to see house music breeds venues full of beautiful girls =P), but that doesn't mean other genre influenced events don't turn out good looking people, you'll have equal fun. It's New York, try everything out....even the food we have here! fantastic!

oh definitely NOT only mainstream trance...anything pretty much from trance, house, prog, to psychedelic..just not a big fan of the 170+ bpm kind of music(don't really know how to categorize it as per the genre)...i mean damn..that guy who opened for tiesto on the 5th at crobar dropped down a banging set and i don't think most of what he was playing would be considered "mainstream"...an all time favorite of mine is northsky by blackwatch...anybody heard this tune? if so, do you have a full mp3 version of it? coz what i have is the cd rip off of a liveset and it becomes sorta difficult to mix it with other songs...

<--- if you recognize me at an event, say hi! I have brown hair, a big wet nose.... :toothless :p

No but really, as soon as you get to know a few people, you'll get to meet almost everyone else. Just get out there. Hope to see you out soon... don't be shy!! :)
