Ivory Coast played a great game tonight, Argentina stopped playing in the 55th minute.
Things also got worse when Crespo and Saviola was substituted. Didier Drogba never gave up and got his goal, although they played to individual to get something to work together.
That's a lack of experience. |

Because of the lack of experience, a draw is fair?
Fact is, statistics were against the african powerhouse and Argentina cleaned house.
A fair score in other peoples eyes would of been 4-1 |
Argentina did nothing to win 4-1, if they attacked as Cote d'Ivoire did then yes
Argentina 2 - 1 Côte d'Ivoire
Argentina 1 - 0 Côte d'Ivoire
Argentina 2 - 0 Côte d'Ivoire
Argentina 2 - 1 Côte d'Ivoire |

Not if Netherlands does well against Serbia and Montenegro and Argentina continues to do well (both very likely) because if that is the case, they will want to be first in the group so the match should be good. |
even if that happens, 1st place won't mean anything except for pride since they won't know beforehand who will they face in the knockout round. i'm SURE the team(s) that is qualified will rest some players, maybe not the entire squad but 2 or 3 key guys at very least. |

Argentina's playing was subpar for their stature, after seeing them play i dont think they're even going to be serious contenders for the cup. |
In my opinion they were the most impressive team so far, certainly did better than England and Germany. They're going to challenge. I know Brazil, Italy, Spain, Holland, France are all yet to play but it's a good sign. Second half was pretty poor but in the first game you don't need to do more than enough.

A team that never played at the World Cup, but has a couple players on the best clubs in Europe, and was referenced as the strongest team in Africa and the strongest team to debut in this tournament. They're quality. |

Sure they will, Group D plays its final games on the same date Netherlands and Argentina play (arg, nl play after group D is done in fact). So both Netherlands and Argentina will want to definitely have a say on who they play next. Not to mention the historical rivalry. |

My error, I didn't check the calendar and just logically thought Group C would play before Group D. Wrong! :wtf:
However this might lead to something even worse: either Netherlands or Argentina not minding a defeat! (if the Group D winner is considered to be a weaker team than the 2nd placed, not unusual) |

True. In any case, I hope Portugal and Netherlands go against each other again at some point... I'll be split once more.. I like both teams. :D |

I have to agree with you here. They showed us a very solid performance. They scored two times at the right moment and they didn't need to much chances to do so. In the second half they let most of the ball to Ivory Coast, played moren on the counter attack, and showed us they also have a very solid defense, Ivory Coast couldn't really find a solution to this block.
In the end I think they deserved the win ... |

From what i've seen Argentina done in other games, i have to say that this was a half-arsed attempt at playing. So i have to disagree with you on that one paranoik0. And @ nchos that excuse of why blout out your body doesnt apply, when you're in shape and in a tournament your body doesnt crumble or get sore as easily because you have been training it for this type of conditions. 100% is the least you should put in. I've played in tournaments back home, and yeah its rough on your body and it sucks when you have to do school/work too, but regardless theres no excuse to not use 100% of your ability. And furthermore i am always terribly offended by the fact that someone better than me does not put 100% into something just because they're better. In a competition it is disrespectful to the other team. |

Don't underestimate Mexico... they are a better team than what they looked in the friendly matches. |
