Kids are told all the time that drugs are bad. And that's it.
I remember reading this article where kids were being taught "drug education" and one of the kids reasons for not using pot (these were 3rd graders) was that "smoking marijuana will make me stupid, and get bad grades, and my friends won't like me anymore."

No it actually isn't proven. It's taken off the myth that since the Taliban grew opium, which they sold to Europe and Asia, that all drug users can be contributing to terroism. The stock market contributes to terroism too, invested money by terroists, but we don't shut down the NYSE.

well smoking pot WILL make u dumber..it kills brain cells..havent u ever seen someone who is "BURNT" ..i have lots of friends that are burnt and its kinda sad...and drug usage has shown to cause a student to get bad grades because pot causes laziness and once again kills brain cells...slowing down your learning process...

Smoking pot isn't good for you, but it can also enlighten you. It does kill brain cells. Yes, I have seen people who are "burnt." It's not inspirational, but it's their life. Drugs used in modertaion can have benefits. Me and my friends smoke occasionally, and we all scored well on the SAT and got into very respectable colleges.
Pot kills brain cells, but so does alcohol (lots), and stoages. And in comparison to those 2 legal substances, marijuana is a lot less harmful. |

well actually Pot kills more brain cells then alcohol and cigs...ALOT more....when was the last time u saw a chain smoker burnt or an alcoholic burnt.... |

Man i cant believe this is a debate were talking about DRUGS. If these commercials stop even the smallest number of kids from doing drugs then there doing there job. Good for them. I've seen a lot of good friends get ED up from chemicals. I cant believe some of you are actually writing E-mails complaining about them like what is wrong with you.
Jesus i didnt think people on here was so freaking pro-drug.
Man EVERYHTING in some way or another may contribute to terrorism. But how the can you compare the shutting down of the drug trade to the shutting down of the NYSE. The NYSE isnt ruining people lives to the point of drugs |

Dude, please. Brain cells are killed because of the inhalation of smoke. To get high, you'll smoke maybe one joint or one bowl. Not a dozen cigs over a day. everyday. Every drink of alcohol kills lots of brain cells as well. Much more then smoking a joint. People get "burnt" from smoking wayyy too much pot;
either too much in one sitting, or too consistently. Pot is very effective in displaying it's effects upon someone. You can't see your liver growing a tumor when you smoke, but it's happening.

Hehe, sorry about the name thing dude. I was just pointing out the perplexing irony of your handle.
Basically, the government spent 3.5 million dollars that could have been used to rehibiliate addicts, feed starving kids, or build a homeless shelter, to try and convince people who use drugs that they support terroism.
I have friends who use drugs. I have friends who have gotten ed up because of drugs. Doesn't make them bad people. Their life, who am I to tell them how to live?
As I've said a million times, anything done in moderation is safe, and can have fringe benefits.
Drugs ruin lives. So does tobacco, alcohol, fast cars, and greed. But we don't shut down the Tobacco and Alcohol industries, outlaw cars, and become a communist state. The point analogy about the NYSE was just to show that terroists make more money from the US trading economy then from selling drugs to us.
Drugs can ruin lives. So can lots of things. It's all about what you use, when you use, how you use. And I believe that it is a person's own morals and beliefs that should dictate this, not someone elses. |

Well tell me this...WHY WHY WHY WHY should my tax dollars go and pay for rehabilitation of drug users...if i am paying i want it to go to prevention...if people where SMART they would not need rahabilitaion...its not MY fault that some moron decides to smoke crack or shoot the horse so WHY should i give my tax dollars to them...as far as i am concerned they should of thought about the consequences and stop listening to kids like Thor and other prodrug people who say drugs are OK...well now they got addicted and want us to pay for it... them...
Well u say its up to the person...like i said so so many people get addicted then want support for their own stupidity....maybe they should of gotten an education as oppose to getting high then they would be A-OK....
Why is that I dont have to worry about getting rehabilitated from drugs ...well its simple because i am NORMAL and dont need that crap to get by or for petty inspiration..therfore i dotn become a pathetic sole ..... |

Ok then. Alcohol is bad, Pizza is bad, weed is bad.. lots of things are bad for you, its all relative. If you smoke up once in a while, its not a big deal. If you smoke weed daily, yes it will do harm.
Drinking kills lots of brain cells, yet you have not once said anything negetive about it.. Alcohol was illegal for a time, we all know what happened with prohobition, it was a massive failure and people continued to drink even though it was illegal. All it did was make criminals very wealthy, and was much of the reason the Mafia in the USA became so powerfull.

Tiesto14, you have a very close minded outlook on drugs, and it shows in every post you make. I've been on both sides of the fence, I used to hate anything to do with illegal drugs, I was hardcore anti-drug.. Now I own a drug info website, I meet people from all over the world who use drugs responsibly and believe it or not none of them are criminals or degenerates!
Your a young man, your very opinionated and I hope that with age you spend more time considering the other side of issues. Nothing in life is black/white, nothing is simple, and the drug issue is a perfect example of how complex things can be.
I read pro-drug info, I read anti-drug info, and thats where I make my judgements. I don't want a society that uses archaic means to deal with drugs, I want an intelligent approach to dealing with hard drugs, and I want especially to de-criminalize marijuana.
I've given this a lot of thought, and I asked myself why should I bother even arguing with you considering you think there is no other solution to the drug war, and you think me and anyone else like me who uses drugs responsibly are criminals and degenerates.
You said I should have an open mind, well my friend I think you fail to see that I do in fact consider both sides more than you know, but the one thing that seperates me from you is life experience. I deal with drugs on a daily basis, I see legal issues all the time in the media because of my website I am constantly informed of things happening in the drug war.
If you want to call me closed minded, fine, considering some of the statements you've made so far, generalizing people, insulting them, and most especially denying the obvious fact that the drug war is a dimsal failure, makes me realize that arguing with you is pointless.
You have the right to your opinion, I will respect that, I do not agree but since I see no reason to argue with you, I simply won't bother :D

Rehab is cheaper then jail. It costs much less in the long run. You gotta think long term, not immediatly.
Not everyone gets addicted, and not everyone needs rehab.
Please don't go into the "I am NORMAL" bull. What the is normal then? Almost everyone has used drugs, and a lot of people still do.
As I keep preaching, not everyone should use drugs, and not everyone can handle them. But it should be an individual decision, not one made by me for someone else. What if you the government all of a sudden told you that you couldn't eat red meat, or have salt on your food, or swear? Would you just say "oh it's the law"? Don't you feel it should be your decision?
