If everyone smoked weed, we'd all get a long a lot better ;)
Endless debate continues.
Thank you for being passionate about the subject tiesto14. It's nice to know that you actually have strong feelings toward the subject and you have your reasons behind it. I'm so friggin' tired of people just opposing drug use simply because it's the law, when they have no personnal perspective on it. |

DUDE...beleive me when i say i have had fun with drugs back in the day...i am 24 now and i guess i out grew it.....but through all the years i experimented i never gained anything and neither did ANY of my friends...some lost jobs, some drop out of school, some stole and 2 died...thats not saying thats like everyone...but its just in my experiences i have seen only bad come from them in the long term....yes they are fun to do but in the end whats the point....
I RESPECT YOUR opnion alot...i liked your arguemnet and you had some REALLY good points that are still making me think....seriously for someone as young as yourself you showed me things i hadent seen before...maybe you should take over Thor's website and efforts..because if you made me think you could make aLOT of peole think...Thor's approach was very hardcore and had no basis except that he was prodrugs,...
I hope you and I have no hard feelings toward each other...and i thank you for sharing your opinion with me...be cool man:) |

You never specified any hard/soft drug, so I had every right to be mad considering I use drugs and fit into your statement above.

Devbert responded to your 'stats', statistics can be twisted and manipulated quite easily, you'll learn this in college. I gave you links to websites that are mostly organizations for de-criminalization, not pro-drug, but pro policy change.. Read up on those links and you'll see lots of great info, I won't bother pasting articles here since it would be boring to read, and its always nicer to read them at the source anyhow.

My manner, yes I was mean to your first post, but like I said above YOU called me a criminal/degenerate for using drugs :D So your manner wasn't very nice now was it? The fact you think I'm an idiot doesn't bother me one bit, insults only hurt if they come by people I respect, and I think you know that I don't have any respect for you :D
I will continue to preach truth/open debate about illegal drug, only educating people about drugs will help us deal with the problems and issues faced by society and drugs... I also mean all drugs, illegal/legal...

If I made no points, why are you getting so upset. People in debates who get to the point you have now reached are either compensating for lack of knowladge with loud noises, or you have a hard time dealing with people making good points against your beliefs...
I'm not pro-drug btw, I'm pro knowladge. You like pretty slogans, I like education and honesty when dealing with drugs :D
My efforts here at TA have been appreciated long before you came a long, if you want to read more of my thoughts (I'm sure your eager), here's some interesting threads that have been had here in the past.
I am honestly sorry that I was so harsh in my first reply to you, but I don't think it matters now anyhow. You seem oblivious to your first posts malicious and insulting statement... If you'd realize that you started this all of with that insult, things would have been much different I'm sure :D

Tiesto14, I don't like the hate, I'm sorry if I offended you but like I said I came home drunk and read that quote about the majority of drug users being criminals/degenerates.. That really set me off and I was quite harsh in my reply, something I rarely do :)
Anyways, I'm sure at least you'll learn something from all these interesting replies, and I will of course work on not replying to posts when I'm angry and drunk! :D

I just smoke weed occasionally. It became a habbit for a while during summer, but it never got worse then twice a week. Now I smoke like once a month. It's more fun when I do it less.
Drugs are dangerous: they can ruin your life, your career, and the people you care about.
I just still feel it is a personnal decision to be made.
I have no hard feelings towards you at all bro. No matter what is said, as long as it is polite and contains no spite, it's all just freeform debate, and if there is anything this country needs, it's more discussion.

I've often thought about living there, too bad Icelandic and dutch are not even similar :(
I don't know if you ever heard of it, but about 1992 there was a documentary made that was given an oscar nomination, I can't recall the name of it, but it was all about comparing Holland and the USA in all aspects, society/laws/culture, and made focusing on differences on things like teen pregnancies, drugs, prostitution, pornagraphy....
It honestly was one of the most interesting things I've ever watched, from that day I swore one day that I would at least live 1 year of my life there :D

Maybe the law is wrong on this one? How many more people have died from LEGAL substances (alcohol poisioning/2 gallons of JD a day/drunk drivers, cigerettes/lung cancer, butter wrapped in bacon ... mmmmmm) than from ILLEGAL ones? Im going to take a stab in the dark here and say that more people have died as a result of being hit by a drunk driver or fattening up on burgers and fries than from illegial drug use (this is just a guess... Id love to see some real stats on this if anyone could find em)?
This whole "war on drugs" thing really confuses me. Its legal to drink ourselves to death (not to mention hop in the car and kill others, well thats illegial, but anyone drunk off their ass probably doesnt have enough sense not to drive), give ourselves heart attacks from butter wraps, give ourselves lung cancer from cigerettes, mouth cancer from chewing tobacco, but we cant smoke some weed if we feel like it, take some E to have a good time, or maybe some acid/shrooms/whatnot?

Ever try visiting an AA meeting and seeing the poor wasted people there? What about all the families that have been torn apart by alcoholism? What about people dying of lung cancer because they couldnt get enough of their oh so sweet nicotine? Beer and smokes are no different from illegial drugs. Theyre addictive, and they will seriously you up if your not careful.

What if drugs WERE legal? There wouldnt be any crime to smuggle them across the borders. Rival dealers/gangs wouldnt be shooting each other in the streets over a corner to control, they could just act like normal businesses (Big-G's friendly neighborhood crack house :p ). Supply would go waaaay up, price would go waaaay down, and people wouldnt have to rob a gas station or mug someone in the street to get money for some weed. No longer would cops have to die trying to fight a fight even THEY say is pointless! Imagine if you woke up tomorrow and cigerettes and alcohol were outlawed. How many people would be robbed just so someone could afford a nice mug of beer? How many people would get shot because tobacco farmers had to move to mexico or columbia or something, farm their crop, deal with rival farmers, smuggle it back into the U.S, and have shootouts with the cops in the trying to get it there? I bet the reason they dont ban cigs/beer is 50% because people would be in an uproar, and 50% becuase our legislation gets all sorts of cash from taxes and kickbacks and what not from tobacco farmers and breweries. The gov't could just sit back and tax the out of drugs like they do to beer and cigs. Then they can use those taxes for useful things, like setting up rehab centers for people who _really_ need help (they should do this anyways from beer/cig tax).

I personally beleive that you own your body , and that NO ONE has ANY right to tell you what you can/cant do to it, so long as you dont harm other people in the process. I also beleive in darwin's survival of the fittest. If your REALLY dumb enough to get totally wasted and OD on an illegial substance, you probably would have died before your time from something else anyways.
I DO however support a minimum age for drug/alcohol use (18 is fine). These things CAN screw up your life if you abuse them. People should have enough time to mature before deciding if they want to drink/dake drugs.
Alright, back to the subject: The commercials.

Good point, but anyone with half a brain (like people on this forum) are going to laugh at those silly commercials and not take them seriously. What theyre targeted at are the gullible, stupid joe sixpacks of america. They try to put a guilt trip on them. Why? Well, this commercial is nothing but propaganda. Its basic point is: If you buy drugs, your supporting terrorism by funding their operations, and helping defeat the american way (Heh, Id like to see Clinton in a commercial that says "I helped the taliban kill thousands of people in terrorist attacks around the world by giving them millions to help them take down the opium trade. Its just a harmless politics" :rolleyes: ). Theyre just like all those "join the army" commercials that seem to have quadrupled since 9/11 (do you ever pay attention to those either?). Ask your (Grand)parents about it, theyll tell you all about the Uncle Sam "I want you" posters and whatnot.

Cool, I hate when things get heated, debating shouldn't be about insults etc, and I am guilty of that unfortunately this time...
But please do take the time to read that thread "Drugs (tripping on NRG)" .. It was a long thread, but an interesting one..
It made me realize using 'legalization' broadly as a term to be very wrong, and now I am very carefull to only say decriminalization :)
I take back what I said about not respecting you, in fact you remind me VERY much of how I was when I was around 21, hugely anti-drugs but not dumb about it.
Anyhow, no hard feelings, I just think this all got off on the wrong foot. |

Well I debated with you gentlemen, I managed to read half of Hamlet, write an essay on the "Players" speech, download some new trance, do 100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups, all the while listening to the first 6 hours of DJ Tiesto - Live @ Dutch Dimension.
A good night had by all. I'll check back in the morning to see if any more flame wars have started :D

ya dude i tryed that...SportTrance and Arya both hosted it on there sites but everytime i entered the URL it said invalid GIF or JPG but its the same old one i sed to use...where di the option to upload it from your harddrive go??....will u try hosting my avator for me...its begining to really aggravate me...LOL....
