Why I Love Trance - The Ultimate Evolution Of Music

click here to listen to Chicane-Halcyon in streaming wma format!!!!!
i`ve been listening to alot of different types of music and none moves or affects me as much as trance. in ways, trance has become my solace. i always turn to it, either in times of distress or in times of jubilant joy.
it`s weird but i can`t listen to other types of music anymore. I listen to a R&B song, and am drowned in its sappy romantic undertones. Hiphop/rap has this overbearing swaggar. Alternative, this unhealthy sickly feeling. rock, unemotional. And let`s not get into country shall we? (youch! did i just say all that?)
but with trance, i find no other substitute. it has the power to move you emotionally. to uplift your spirits. to take you places. with trance music it really is all about the music. How else can you explain sold out shows for world reknowned dj`s like PaulVanDyk at remote places like Malaysia or Australia. trance music has the ability to transcend cultural, geographical, ethnic boundaries like no other genre before it.
what`s interesting is that i time my newfound love for trance at a point in my life when i was recovering from depression. the death of my best friend had sapped all of my energy, leaving me completely devasted. it took me a long time to recuperate but what helped me get out of mourning was the music. it is almost like a drug. Listening to songs like Chicane-Halcyon really helped me get through it all. and isn`t that exactly what religion should do for you? to uplift the human spirit from the ravages of despair? (and no , i`m not afraid to proclaim trance as my religion).
so...what do you think about my argument as trance music being the highest evolution of music. disagree? i`d like to know!
DANCE BABY DANCE! YEAH! (paul van dyk returns to New York City, March 29 at the Soundfactory!!!!!!!!! wooo!) |

I'm so glad to hear someone understand the full capasity of power that trance can have over us. It has brought me through hard times (and made my good times that much better!) again and again.
I often think that trance music is an evolution of classical music as far as the emotional level - it's the only other type of music that you really feel the emotion that the artist felt.
cheers
I love that track as well by the way!! |

Well said DevanteS...excellent actually.
To sum up what one feels, the emotions that a melody composed and added to a rythm....can only be understood by fellow lovers of "BLISS". Because that's what TRANCE does, it takes u to a spiritual plateau, where your mind knows no limits...where for a moment u are not of this earth..but of the Universe.... in a way...yes it is TODAY's classical music. It does for many, young & old, what Mozart (Tiesto) & Strauss (Ferry Corsten) did during the renaissance period.
A tear nearly formed in my eye after reading this and listening to this beautiful track at the same time.....not because it's sad...but because it's a feeling of love..a feeling that everything's gonna be alright, especially knowing that there are others that feel the same way I do about not only this music, but what it makes me feel.
I think most TA's know what I mean.. that's what brings us here...to this board, day in and day out... and what brings us closer together in harmony more than any other form of music.
I was into Trance for a while...but after the death of my good friend, and especially of my father not too long after, it really did help me release the flood of emotions that I felt during that time... I grew to appreciate the music even more for it...and was able to continue and accept the forces beyond my control...knowing that everything has it's reason...and that there is a greater purpose. This feeling and understanding was enhanced with my visit to the south pacific...I fell in love.....with TRANCE.
I know it's kinda deep what I just wrote...but I just felt I needed to write this down for everyone to know...so that somehow...somewhere...somebody knows that LOVE truly does exist..... it exists in yourself, and Trance helped me find that love within...only then can u truly be happy!!
Peace & Harmony be with you all. |

Louise Nurding .. or Louise Redknapp, as she's known now. Semi-famous pop singer from 1996-1998. I don't think she's doing much of anything now, but she was one of my biggest crushes in High School. Look for her FHM Magazine pics. Good lord.

Amen. Very well thought out. I just got back from seeing Armin Van Buuren @ Glow... and I'm in fully feeling the effects of trance. Music just made me have one of the best nights of my life. I feel so fulfilled, it's hard to explain. Seeing the joy in the crowd, the total feeling of pure bliss... so much energy... hands in the air, eyes closed... the crowd at the club (Glow) was intense. Thick in the air. Trance is incredible.

and for DevanteS have you heard all the chicane cds? if you haven't grab them all you won't be sorry i own all 3 of them. trying to collect all the chicane records at the moment so far i have saltwater and autumn tactics... trying to grab the rest of them. i think chicanes style is so appealing because it has a ambient style inside which if i say so myself is the best! |

Hey DevanteS!
Just checked out your site, beautifully done. The "emotions" had me falling from my chair..so funny ;)
i also agree on your idea of trance as modern classic music. sounds that speak for themselves, taking you to to other places through the boundaries of imagination ..
keep it up! |
