it should read "fvcker"
according to the french journalist, another of the players heard what was said.
obviously we might never find out the truth, but it would have to take something like that to elicit the response that zidane showed. he is apparantly very protective of his Algerian heritage, so its likely it isnt far off the truth. |

wow. fifa deserves praise for this. they overlooked a mistake on his part and looked at his overall achievement in the cup. |

| it's ashame that this incident happened, for both parties. unless sidane and matterazzi come out and say what was said then everything is going to be speculation, except the headbutt part. if FIFA actually going to do anything about this? they really can't do anything to Zidane since he's done with international football. |

| quote: | Sources in France say it is believed Materazzi insulted Zidane's mother.
Materazzi himself has not spoken publicly about the incident except to deny a claim by Paris-based anti-racism group SOS Racism, made on Monday, that he had called Zidane "a dirty terrorist".
"It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means," the Italian news agency Ansa quoted Materazzi as saying after the Italian team returned to Rome. |

Few things:
1- Dont expect Materazzi to publicly say what he said on the pitch - which idiot would go like: "oh, yeh, i called him a fkn terrorist"....
2- "I am an ignorant - dont know what the word terrorist means" - ffs, what are we? 6 years old to believe this?
3- There was something about 'muslim' and 'terrorist' (said on french radio)
4- It's the final, you've played 110 minutes, you're a great player, your shoulder got ed and you almost had to stop playing, you're stressed, and you're about to win cuz you've dominated the 2nd half and 2 overtimes, and you get an insult - calm down? call him ugly? pull his hair? NO, KILL THE ******. so stop sayin like fkn idiots "you shouldnt lose it, shouldnt react this way, bla bla bla".
5- soccer racism: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Zo27dAs2...soccer%20racism

I'm not condoning what he did, but I was saying this same thing last night. I mean, imagine you're on your way out of international football, leaving while still at the height of your game and as one of the best players in history. Only a few people really know exactly what, if anything was said, but from the reports so far, consider that you've worked your way through the ranks under discrimination for your heritage, and even on your last day, going out as a legend, some undermines everything you've accomplished and calls you a terrorist just because of where you were born. I can't imagine taking it too well if it were me in his shoes.
Not exactly the model reaction, but at the same time, sometimes your emotions just get the better of you. This'll be forgotten by most people in a few years. |

| Just like Beckham's mental lapse in 1998, Zidane will be forgiven after some bitterness. But unlike Golden Balls, Zidane actually won something for France and it won't be long before all French fans remember that. |

Truly Materazzi must've said something racist to really tick off Zidane. Zidance is such a matured player, I highly doubt he would do something like that in a game of that caliber. Italian team is so childish, I dont think they knew what they had just won... fondling the cup like its a toy, putting a hat on it, and in one point Materazzi even tried to put it in his shirt... stupid.
.........................................
...and thats their captain
To me, Zidane still played great thoroughout the whole cup, and I wont let something like this take over his whole career an what he has contributed to the game. I just wish he could headbutt the rest of the team too, except Buffon, he's cool.
Go Zidane!!! |

Apparently Materazzi twice called his mother a prostitute and then the racial slur set him off. I just heard this from my buddy so I don't have a site. |

stfu all you haters!! if materazzi was stupid to offend with words zidane, then zizou was double stupid to react like that. why use violence to resolve things? don't we have enough? wtf that is a football game not a war...
I personally still respect both zidane who remains the best wc player and materazzi one of the best italian defender
so stop throwing in the air being a sick fan of one side or the other. |
