Yes that's what I meant. I don't even think America recognises Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and if they do, they're the only country in the world (afaik) that do recognise it as such. So I'm afraid you're out voted - it's not technically your capital (certainly not East Jerusalem anyway)

lol I think Israel is old enough to decide which city would be its capital. Jerusalem is a part of Israel, as CHRles said, and therefor Israel has the right to decide whether it'd be its capital or not.

My point is that basing ANYTHING political on religion is stupid beyond belief.

ok. but Jerusalem is still the most important place to the Jewish people. :p

But surely you can say the same for the Palestinians (or whatever label you chose) that have lived there for 100s of years?!?!? Surely that's a bit more important than the "rights" of some right-wing American religious fundamentalist who wasn't even born there?! (Ok extreme example but you get the picture)

And Christains, and all the Christians that live in Israel/Palestine are Arabs, so they should have it!!

Well Jaffa, a city which is actually part of Tel Aviv, is mostly Arab as well, but it's part of Israel. So just b/c the majority of the people living in a part of a Jerusalem are Arabs doesn't mean the city as a whole isn't part of Israel.
Will there ever come a day when Israel would hand over full control of East Jerusalem to another government? Maybe, but only if it's a government it trusts. Otherwise Israel would be afraid that members of Hizbollah and other organizations would be allowed to operate from East Jerusalem, just like Lebanon has (reluctantly) allowed the Hizbollah to militantly operate out of southern Lebanon.

Well I don't think that's the thinking behind control over East Jerusalem

And of course Israelis will tell you that Israel did offer the Palestinians "East Jerusalem" at Camp David so what's the problem?!

Jews lived in Jerusalem for 100s of years too. the fact that arabs lived there too doesn't change anything. Jerusalem is and will be Israel's capital (east, west, south, north, whatever).

first of all not all Christians in Israel are arabs.
second of all, no - Christians can't have Jerusalem. they can live there, pray, do whatever they want, but it's still a part of Israel, therefor still Israel's capital.

What makes the Jewish claim to the city more special than the Muslims, Christians or Arabs claims?

And the Palestinian Christians? What are they? But again, why do you promote Jewish claims above Muslims and Christians?
Spacey Orange
thread starter-

if your going to post an article, at the very least post something credible.

you post a worthless article/editorial about some secret report that was never release but leaked. who the hell knows, if such a report exists and whether it is indeed genuine. maybe the mossad wrote it. who the knows.

as I already said, it's the most important place on this planet for Jewish people (while it's not the most important place to Muslims. dunno about Christians, but I think the Vatican is the most important place for them).
I already said I don't care even if Hindus lived there. I'll repeat myself: it's a part of Israel, therefor Israel's capital.

Ah yes, of course...

But wouldn't that still suggest East Jerusalem is Arab?

no. that wouldn't. Jews live there, and the Temple Mount and the Western Wall are there.
Psy-T
george, since you're insisting so much that jerusalem isn't israel's capital, i'd love to hear what city is.
