UN resolution is unacceptable to any thinking person but not a like Olmert. I would not bet even my pube hair on his political career longevity. For all intents and purposes - I'd say that he's pretty much done.

It's not a cease-fire. UN blatantly handed Hizbollah and Iran victory, ed Israel (as always) and ensured that Hizzbolah gets some R&R before it pushes on with its agenda again. I'd say cease-fire lasts uh... no more than 1 week before we're back to square 1. Iran won't let it. It has too much to win, too little to lose.

Can someone please explain to me how any side here can claim victory? It doesn't sound to me like Israel has won, it doesn't sound like Hizbollah has won, and it sure as hell doesn't sound like Lebanon won.
If I've been following this story right over the past few weeks, hundreds are dead in Lebanon, close to a hundred are dead in Israel, the economy of Lebanon has crawled to a halt, and the economy of northern Israel isn't too good either. Hizbollah's infrastructure has been at least somewhat tampered with (underground tunnles, stronghold bases, etc.), and some of its contracted armymen have been captured or killed.

So Lebanon has suffered many casualties, and the citizens of Israel (including Arabs) have been living in fear of Katyusha rockets.
What did Hizbollah win by abducting and killing soldiers when they started all this? Sheba farms won't be given to them b/c Syria wants it for itself, and Israel won't be handing over ANYTHING to the Syrians anytime soon. Furthermore, any Hizbollah militias that the Israeli army will see within a certain distance of its border will now be shot on site.
So what has Hizbollah acheived for itself and its supporters? Maybe it's hoping that its political base has grown, but that'll quickly diminish. Europe and America are likely to strongly help finance the Sinora government, so whatever money the Hizbollah gets funded by Iran will only be a fraction of what Lebanon wil receive from the West, AND from the oil-rich Arab states.

I hope what somehow ends up coming out of all this is that Lebanon will gain stability, some much needed economic assistance, and good political backing from the West. At the same time, I hope Israel will gain a stable and quiet northern border.

I have to agree with you. This "war" is way too big on Olmert and Peretz. The only one who wants this so called cease-fire is Olmert, although he still got the U.S. backup to continue with this operation.

The Israeli people know that if we agree to that cease-fire, we won't see are kidnapped soldiers, Nasrallah and the Hezbollah will stay alive, and in a couple of days, months of years after the cease-fire, they'll just attack again.
As a citizen of north-Israel, that heard just this hour 5-6 alarms and a couple of missles falling in the area, I want this war to keep on going, because it's time for us to stop living in fear from our neighbors.

Israel spent nearly 15 years in Southern Lebanon trying to destroy Hizballah. Didn't work did it? Israel has spent over over 40 years trying to destroy the Palestinian threat. Hasn't worked one bit has it? Whilest ever terrorists have the support of their populations, they will never be destroyed. What you are proposing, which I find a little strange coming from someone in range of Hizballah missiles, is for this threat to continue. Your support for Israeli action is support for the continuation of attacks on yourself...

Time for a different approach if you ask me...

You're kidding right?

First, the "cease-fire" is planned for tomorrow at 7 am (local time),
Second, I know the media outside of Israel doesn't like to announce it, but Hezbollah shot today over 200 of missiles, since 10:30 am or so.

I like when you  every time you find a link like that, but come on, if you're going to try and show us as the "cease-fire" violators, at least check your facts.

So what you're saying is Israel has deliberately done as much damage as it can before the cease fire? Looks like Saturday is too holy to discuss a UN resolution but not too holy to bomb people's homes?

And what's your point about Hizballah firing 200 rockets? There is no cease fire until tomorrow apparently so if Israel can still bomb Lebanon, by the same token, Hizballah can bomb Israel...

Isnt the cease-fire announced by both sides?

What Israel expects Lebanonese people to do? Go shopping again from Monday.. its like 'We have announced a cease-fire Lebanese people can be normal now from tomorrow..

My support is to disarm those terror groups. the cease-fire agreement will only help them rearm themselves. As I wrote my last message an alarm went on and a couple of missiles were shot near my town. Believe me when I say it's not a pleasant state to live in but you can't keep living in fear, knowing that they can and will attack you whenever you want. In a year or two I will be drafter for the IDF, I don't want to be that soldier that will be kidnapped by a terror group.

My point was to show you that you can't come and say "Israel break the cease-fire", when the cease-fire itself hasn't "started", and when the Hezbollah still launches rockets.

You also keep on saying "Israel bomb Lebanon, so Hezbollah can shoot back", but as far as I remember, Hezbollah shot first.

And do you think we can go shopping again tomorrow ? or even go to work?

Damn, you always say that the media is pro-Israeli, but everything you write sounds like your watching Al-Manar, and I highly doubt it.
