there are a lot of students in my school from usa, but we are forced to speck in italian with they, to teach as much as possible the language in one year |
I went to Milan last month, and you should have heard me try to speak Italian :p
Your English is just fine, and I wouldn't worry about not being good enough. We can understand you perfectly already, so I imagine after a few months in an english-speaking country, you'll be nearly fluent! |

time ago i've thought about a long stay in usa or england, but now i think that i don't know enough english, otherwise in italy it isn't taught very well |
Just go to a country where english is the main language, such as the UK or USA. The best way to learn a language is to practice, but when nobody around speaks it, there is no reason to practice, so the best way is to be forced to practice. Also, you'll learn more than just text-book english, you'll learn regional dialects, wherever you plan to go. I'de advise going to the UK. More trance, and the slang isn't left to ebonics speaking rappers...though, in my daily language, i find myself speaking ebonics sub-consiously... |

are any of them your friends? go out for a beer, after class and suggest this option. i bet they would really like it and it would help you out. nothing like learning from a native speaker. |

Personally, the things that have helped me the most are:
- Using the language: As stupid as it might sound, there are plenty of opportunities you can use to get used to the language. One choice is writing a diary, where you write how your day was (in English). Sure, no one will correct you (unless you find someone to read it for you), but it's a good way of getting used to the grammar, to the words and even to the phonology.
If necessary, write down your favourite lyrics, and look up the words you don't know in your dictionary of choice. Keep in mind your vocabulary will improve according to the lyrics you choose - Prodigy, for example, taught me what "Firestarter", "punking instigator", "fear addicted" and "danger illustrated" mean, but I've never had the chance of using these expressions in real life :p
Finding someone else you can speak English with is another great idea. Even if this person is not a native speaker (I used to practise with Russians), or if you must look for them in a forum about trance music full of strange people :D
- Media: Music, films, news, magazines, porn... these are all great opportunities. Subtitles are your friend, specially when they're in English, and reading the lyrics before you listen to a tune is another great way of getting your ears used to the sounds of the language.
- Ask others to correct you: A while ago, I had the following words in my sig...

... It was marvellous :D
- Video-games: My greatest leap towards fluency was thanks to Simcity 2000 (:p). I read the manual 2 or 3 times, and I used to play the game for hours and hours. It was like being into a "reality in English", where I'd have to use the language (otherwise the city would just go bankrupt).
- Study: When you're bored, try to learn more about grammar, phonetics, vocabulary, .... you know, the theory. That's really helpful.
