ok guys, i came to this forum first for the trance music, but also to improve my english skills, but now i recognize that the i don't understand the largest part of the expressions made by the american or british users
so i'm asking to people who isn't english mother tongue: what are the best ways to learn english?
time ago i've thought about a long stay in usa or england, but now i think that i don't know enough english, otherwise in italy it isn't taught very well |
your english is easily better than most native speakers that use TA. your problem is probably paying too much attention to idiots who cant speak the language themselves. yes, and a large number of them are american. |

| Trust me, you'd do fine if you came to an English speaking country knowing the amount you know currently. And I don't even have to test your comprehension or speaking skills. |

Before I went to Germany, I listened to a lot of streaming german talk-radio. Like Zombie0915 suggested, it definitely seems to force you to understand when you can't figure out what is being said by the context. Yes, talk-radio wasn't the most interesting thing, but it wasn't bad to have playing when you're on your computer. Even just hearing the words got me used to the way of speaking and getting used to hearing it.
If you have the means though, the best way to learn it I find is to go to a country that speaks it. I was amazed how quickly I picked up german when I went there: at the beginning of the trip I had to ask people to slow down or even translate some things, but only after two weeks I was understanding people at a normal talking speed and they could understand me as well. You'll definitely be surprised how quickly you can pick it up.
Don't be worried about your english if you're coming to the US. You're no doubt understandable on the boards here, so you have some idea about the language. At least in the US if you make an attempt at the language (as opposed to just refusing to speak it like some people that even live here) then most people will be flattered and be willing to talk. |

a question for the american users: is it real that it's very hard to make a long school stay in the united states? because there are a lot of problem for the permissions? |
