best CDJ out there, pound for pound, is the Pio CDJ-200. DO NOT GET THE DENON COUNTERPART. the Denon 1000 is crappy, will break down on you, and even when it IS working, it sucks. jogwheel isn't in fluid motion, and the pitch is very unprecise. for the price, you can get a CDJ-200, which is quality, will treat you good if you treat it good, and has the most precise pitch in the industry. you get 3 onboard effects, and mp3 playback (no VBR mp3s), +/-0.02% pitch increments, and text display. the only thing you could want to add is vinyl emulation, which it doesn't have.
mixers? i'd say Vestax PCV-275. i've never actually used it, but it appears to be quite solid. i'm in the need for a new mixer myself, so i'd like to ask to anyone who has one:
do the faders work smoothly? i mean, not like the POS Stanton RM-3s or Behringher mixers, where only the top 20% of the way makes any difference.
anyways, IMO, stear clear from Denon CDJs, and Stanton mixers [they suck... but they seem to be durable tho. you might wanna check em out]. i won't even mention Behringer mixers, just say no (altho if you want something cheap that will work considerably well before it breaks down, a VMX300 is not a bad choice).
headphones? buy once, buy well. i've only owned one pair of cans, Sony MDR-7506s. they can go loud, they can go low, they have a nice flat response, they can take a nice beating (metal frame, not plastic), they are good for production, and they are quite comfy.
so again
2x Pioneer CDJ-200s
Vestax PCV-275

To reiterate,
Pioneer CDJ-200s
Ecler Nuo 2
Don't get the Vestax PCV-275, man. It's not even up to par with other mixers available today. And I own one, as a backup. |

ok, thats a great point. on another note, if i were to buy a PCV, all i ask of it is to not crap out on me after a year, and to have faders that actuall FADE smoothly. does it do that job correctly? |
